I thought the Pro Flow throttle body was $155? That is much better that the $495 hardtopguy quoted me. I wouldn't buy one unless I knew it was bad of course. I was just saying that I would also gain the increased flow as an extra benefit. Of course, the TPS that came with it would be from whatever car it was on so I would not be certain if it was in good shape.

Have a look here:

If I'm not mistaken, the OEM throttle body includes a new TPS. I don't think the Pro-Flo does. It is my understanding that you have to "pirate" the OEM TPS and adapt it to the Pro-Flo, so this would not address a bad TPS, since you're probably using the same one.

Also, in that link you can see the Idle Air Control thing, part #6

I will be having the TPS' voltage and the black box wiring connections checked on Tuesday. Should hopefully know more then....or at least eliminate even more.

Checked TPS - had volatge readings from .27 at idle to 4.5ish at WOT. The manual said .3-4.5. It also went up and down without any big jumps.

All wiring connections to the black box and ECU are in good shape.

All vacuum lines were checked again.

Hmmm

I guess I'm down to a bad ECU, bad black box, or injectors. I'll be using some injector cleaner today and cleaning my air filter at some point. My mechanic said that I should see when Honda recommends that I change my fuel filter. I have 75k on the car so perhaps something somewhere is getting old. We'll see, this is frusterating.

We don't have a fuel "filter" as such. We have a fuel "sock" and there is no indicated change interval onit. Besides, it would be far eaier to check the fuel pressure before changing the fuel sock.

Is there any way to test for a bad ECU or black box? I tried to use my cruise control but after 2 seconds it shuts off. I assume that the engine problem is cvausing this. Does this help point the direction at all? The car in this 100 degree heat and this hesitation is almost undrivable at low RPM's. I have a state inspection next week, I hope they find something out. I also used the injector cleaner and didn't feel any difference. Can problems this bad be attributed to a really dirty air filter? Could I have a bad O2 sensor even though the CEL isn't on right now? It used to be on but then shut off by itself. My mechanic said that O2 sensors have done that before.
Thanks

Xviper,
My car passed state inspection no problem. And I don't think I am running too rich. 14.5 to 15.5 at idle and 13ish at WOT, sometimes 12's.

Xviper, have you ever heard of the cruise control turning off a few seconds after it is set? Feels just like if I were to tap the brake.

Guess I need to swap out my ECU with someone else. I may also get my vales adjusted since they have 78k on them anyway.

I'm down to ECU, black box and injectors. Any other ideas are appreciated.
Thanks,
Anthony

Since you are boosted, running above 12 at WOT may be too lean.

I've never heard of the CC turning off on its own. You might want to check the brake pedal switch and also the clutch pedal switch that shuts off the CC. One of those might be loose or not working right.

I was under the impression from this forum that <13 is ideal with the Vortech. Many owners run in the low-mid 13's. You don't have a A/F gauge do you? I seem to remember you check your plugs often to make sure you aren't running lean. If you don't have a A/F gauge, I assume you are running similar to me at about 13 at WOT.

I was womndering if the problem I'm having is related to the CC turning off and therefore could help me locate the problem.

Yes, I have the AEM a/f gauge. At WOT, I'm running around 11.2 to 11.5. My plugs seem to be giving an indication of all things "OK". I just can't see the CC issue being related to what's going on with your car.

i been seeing the same symptons with my comptech kit and also just passed state inspection. my A/F ratios are also in the same range as yours high 12's low 13"s, i have new plugs, coil packs, map sensor, and 02 sensors. i started playing with my fuel pressure and that seemes to have helped. my kit has almost 30,000 miles on it and this is the first problem that i have had other then some 02 sensors. i wonder if the heat had anything to so with it? the car runs to lean and the goes into limp mode. we seem to be running lean to begin with and this hot weather doesn't help.
