Default Centrifugal Superchargers, not enough torque?

The peak power output only occurs near redline because boosts slowly builds with RPM increase. So torque isn't there until very high up in the RPM range.

I'm thinking an upgrade should help improve the weak points of a car not just pass it on with a bit more top end HP.

I guess most SC owners want more redline horse power. I think for a broad and solid HP band improvement... turbo is the only way to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

IMO, turbo is always better than s/c!! But, the attractive feature of being CARB legal for the Comptech s/c is what gets almost all forced induced fans.

Trust me, if Comptech or any other aftermarket brand created a turbo kit that is CARB legal, everyone would be all over it!!! Myself included!!

I personally like the power band of my vortech. Yeah there is not much off the line but if I would have gone turbo I would of probably needed to get some differential work done because of the extra torque. So it is all what you as an individual wants. I have owned 2 turbo cars and loved them both. I also love my supercharged S also.

Superchargers do have a lot of benefits. The AP2 supercharger kits also seem to have a significantly better powerband than the AP1 kits.

When I considered a supercharger, it not making a lot of torque is about the last thing that I cared about.

They make good horsepower, keep the same characteristics of the powerband, CARB legal, VERY reliable, cheap compared to turbos, no tuning needed (much cheaper and no stand alone computer needed), etc.

The car already weights next to nothing, not that much need for torque. Get some gears if you really want it

the 'chargers lack of low end is probably one of the big reasons they are reliable and easy to install.

With the high compression of this motor, boost at idle is not something you want. You would have to have extra precautions (electronic and mechanical beefing up) to make sure that you don't blow the motor.
