So, I don't know much of anything about turbo kits, but I came across this super cheap "bolt on" kit from SpeedyRacer. I'm not looking to throw a lot of boost through my engine on this, maybe like 5-7 psi. I really just want something cheap to start and will over time part in better parts. So I just wanna know if this kit has everything I need. I doesn't look like it comes with a boost controller or anything else like that. I also want to know if I could run it without having the car tuned. Just wanting educated on this. Thanks!

So I take it without any tune or management it's just going to blow.

 

I wouldn't touch that kit with a 10 foot pole. If you can't afford to do it right the first time, don't do it at all. When that compressor wheel comes apart you'll be spending several thousand to replace your motor.
Plus the fact it says 01-09 F20C AP2 only.....yeah, good luck with fitment on that

 

There are, of course, no F20C AP2 engines! That alone should be a giant red flag.

Honda had a dealer-installed supercharger for a year or two. Not sure if that also included a new ECU as these cars are not tuneable without one. The stock ECU will maybe handle a cold air intake and high flow cat/exhaust. Maybe, there's only so much the stock ECU is programmed to handle and mods without tuning can have negative effects.

Entry price for turbo- or supercharging seems to be in the $4000-$5000 range depending on who does the tuning -- which ya need. You can bolt on a supercharger in a weekend if you can get the pulley off the front of the engine. Then it needs tuning. Turbocharger requires more work as you're dealing with exhaust and intake.

Spend the money on good tires.

Anything "cheap" never works out if your favor when you want something to last or work the way it's supposed to. Save yourself the headache.

 

your gonna bolt that on and have a great sense of accomplishment and pride, your gonna smile like you have only done a few times in your life but that's where all of that great feel good and emotion will end. Take that $731 or w.e. and save it for a good Mani... Full race has one in its garage sale link I think still for this much. Trust the above info; in stock form (NA) I was hanging with a kid that through on one of these kits on his car, it was humiliating (for him)

of course if your looking for 5-7 psi just keep saving for a SOS SC and youll be part of the masses that just want that lil extra with a ton of reliability/longevity

 

there are so many things about what you just said that is wrong.. First .. there is no really cheap turbo kit.. now this kit sales for $800 with a turbo.. that is a huge red flag.. save up more money and drop on a nice kit that you will not have to worry about.. Next.. there is no way you should drive around with a turbo kit with out a tune.. just dont do it... you can find a nice used kit on here for $2,500-$3,500 with a turbo... it will then cost you little more for the dyno, intsall and ECU.. i say.. total .. $4,500-$5,000 all in.. if you are going boost just do it right the first time...

 

5k all in? pffft. I pieced my kit together and did all the work myself. I used quality stuff(6062BB, aem infinity, ect) but still, you are looking at $7-8k MINIMUM ,to have a proper, worry-free setup.

 

true,, was saying maybe you can find a nice used kit and be able to get it down to 5k.. I am selling a full fullrace pro kit with gt30 turbo for just 2,500.. you can piece out the rest and have money left over for a tune
