Default check engine light and car wont accelerate.

I recently went on a mtn drive this past weekend and when the car is at full vacuum the check engine light comes on and I am not able to accelerate any more (which I think is safe mode for ht ECU). The code says MAP sensor low voltage. I

Don't turn it off, just let off the throttle and you will save fuel and compression brake. Turning it off is dangerous and hard on the engine apparently.

With the map sensor in the initial startup phase and the air running past it probably causes calibration problems or something to do with what you are doing.

when I let off the throttle the revs eventually goes down to idle and I have to come to a complete stop because the car will not accelerate anymore. The only way I can get the car to move again is to turn it off and on

Seeing how a change of MAP sensor cured your problem for so many months, perhaps it's time to look into getting the MAP sensor TSB, which is also a better attachment system for the MAP wiring harness.
Also, it is possible that some of the wiring connections where you spliced the Vortech timing and MAP boxes may have degraded. It's not a bad idea to go in there and ensure that all the connections are solid. Perhaps consider soldering them all if it wasn't done originally.

Considering the 2 devices wired into the map sensor input, I'd have a look at all of the wiring from the map clamp, and the VAFC first.

I too have the same setup.I also was getting the check engine light with no power until i shut off the engine and restarted it.This was strange because i dynoed the car and tuned it.All was fine at first until the weather changed and then i started having this issue. It turned out to be my vafc settings. On the dyno i could only add 10% fuel before the ecu would freak out,so i left it there..The weather changed after my tuning session and then it started acting up.I turned the settings down to 9% instead of 10% and it took care of my problem.Perhaps this too is you're problem.Good luck!!!

It's interesting that you mentioned that Joe.
I was able to add 15% on the VAFC. I sold the setup to a friend with the same year model. I tuned it on the dyno as well and I could only add 14%. I wonder if there is inconsistency in the map sensor?

I would think so.Out of curiosity, what settings did you use for high and low throttle positions?I think that this also has a large affect on the tuning.

I too have had this happen to my Vortech, what you need to do is disconnect the negative of the battery for about ten seconds then reconnect. When you restart the car the check engine light should be gone and the car should run fine. The Honda ECU isn't the greatest but this should do it for you hopefully.
