Great option, thanks for the info!

Do you think a regular headset mic would be sufficient, or do you need a high quality dedicated mic?
A standard one may be sufficient. I used an old computer mic I had laying around. If the frequency response of the mic is out-of-band, it wouldn't show up on the spectrum analyzer - so you'll know if it works or not. Or you could test it against a known frequency (tone generator).
