Default Chirp from engine bay when starting engine

Hi all,

For as long as I've had the car, I notice the oil light will stay illuminated for a good 2-3 seconds after the engine start. This time is less if the car is warm and I just got done driving it somewhere and I'm starting up again. Please note I'm running Motul 8100 xcess 5x40 oil in my car.

I've checked the oil level multiple times and it's been at max level since last oil change.

Last week I started to hear a short chirp when starting the engine on cold start. I'm scared that the chirp I'm hearing is from an engine that is oil dry.

Question:
Do you guys have your oil light stay on for a couple of seconds after starting up?
Do you have any input on what this chirp sound might be, I seriously can't tell where it's coming from exactly.

It could be locked air and the WG opens when you start up the car. Not sure that sounds like a chirp, maybe its a belt?

Not sure would your sound could be, but regarding your oil pressure, have you thought about putting a guage at your oil sender location and having someone start your motor? That way you can actually see what pressure (or lack there of) you're getting.

i think its the oil pressure sensor that causes the flicker.

Wait, so you also have the oil light illum for a couple of seconds after start-up? Or does it turn off immediately.

Usually takes mine a short couple of seconds, anything more than 3-5 seconds I would then be concerned there is an issue. Maybe take a video of the squeak? Might help to figure what it is/where its coming from.

Could be the beginnings of an accessory bearing failure or belt slip. If your car is not garaged and sitting out in the cold, this can make it do strange things like this which otherwise it would not. My guess it is not related to your oil light/engine. The ap1's take 10w. Not sure about the ap2 oil weight off the top of my head, but think its 10w too. The oil light might take longer to shut off because the system can’t build pressure as fast with the lighter 5W oil. Or it could just be really cold as I said if it’s not garaged. Technically the 5w would be better able to circulate quicker in the cold which is good, but oil pressure which is what your light is connected with would be less with a lighter oil so that would make sense.

Thank you very much everyone. Now that I think about it, it does indeed sound a lot like a belt slip. I will try to find someone to start up my car for me so I can check.

You guys rock, ty vm

I think I would replace the oem pressure sensor. I've had one go bad on another vehicle I own (not a honda) and the oil light did that for about 3 months before the sensor completely failed.
