Parts Missing:

ESM, Modified Crank Pulley, Pulley extender connected to the crank pulley, Oil bolt, (small hardware).

Defective:

From what i read, comptech had many issues with the brackets on their original kits. They made a newer version in late 01-02 from what i read.

The original Comptech bracket system cracked. Comptech used to sell the updated brackets for around 600$ to convert the original to the current production version.

The new version has bushings on the main mounting plate, the originals did not.

SlowS2k, do you konw if the only way to fix this would be to get it welded. Currently there is a small crack, very small on the vtec mounting plate.

If I'm stuck with this I just want to see what options I have. If I get my cash back for the item and end up with the kit, I can use that money to make it beefier since CT engineering doesnt sell the updated brackets anymore after speaking to them.

Even if you have it welded they will crack again. The anodizing will have to be stripped before it can be welded too. Find a skilled TIG welder for the job.

A local S2ki member to me bought a used Comptech kit a few years ago with cracked brackets. It was a very early kit, with the 1st gen contoured airbox. Both the VTEC mounting side and Alternator mounts were broken.

Comptech was still in business then, and sold him all the updated brackets. Sucks that CT engineering won't sell them.

Yea i know. If the seller would respond to me we could have worked something out if ct engineering sold the brackets. But since they dont, I'm pretty much stuck.

I guess im just going to keep it in the box until my credit card company tells me if they are going to be able to officially credit me or not.

Can i get some bushings for this kit. Like at a local hardware store? Do you know if the torque damper would work in regards to vibration. I see it do a great job at keeping the engine from shaking.

If your talking about the bracket that goes in the vtec solenoid, mine was cracket so I went to a local machine shop and they made one for me. I think you can take that part to a reputable machine shop that works on alluminum and they can fabricate one for you.

Great to hear. My plan if i get my cash back was to do that for the vtec mount and alternator bracket.. Should I do anything for the housing bracket the sc connects too. With those things I would hope it holds up.
