^^Oh yea? Did you just recieve the flow and efficency papers in the mail? Your comment is ridiculous at best.

OP: You are INSANE to cut your crossmember like that for a turbo. There are so many other options now, which require no cutitng of the frame rail, or the crossmember.

good luck with the build

that cross member, or the lack of it makes me nervous. at this point if you arent planning to reinforce it you might as well cut the rest of it out to save the weight.

I've cut mine out and put in a chromoly bar, weighs farrrrrrrrrrrr from 100lb's.
It's hard to see it in this pic but if you look in the front of the car.

i figured 3 to 4" diameter solid bar at 20-30 lbs / foot. idk what the actual weight of 3 or 4" chromoly is in solid bar per foot?

either way, the way the turbo manifold is, and IC piping and radiator fans and stuff, i dont see where he has room to put in a new bar.

after looking at the pics your right about room to put it, the kit really isnt well thought out.

Hope you figure something out

Your intercooler is too small for anything over 450HP....Just an FYI
lol, yeah bro. ic doesn't determine power. lol

find a t88 supra making like 6-700 and put that intercooler on and it will still make 6-700.

as for the S,
the intercoolers point is to keep intake temps down right? well the ic works along side the turbo, so the turbo needs to be appropriately sized for the hp as well. since the efficiency of the island that the hp falls into will determine how much intercooling is needed to fight high intake temps and detonation.

he could have a tiny 14b mitsu turbo on there and need a giant intercooler for 300whp. or, he could have a t70 running 12-14 psi and hardly even need the ic at all for 420whp.

his setup seems to match well.

as for cutting the crossmember:

i cut mine 100% out and made a new removable one out of 1&3/4" stainless square-stock with gussets and 1/4" thick end-plates and mounted it to the body by using 8(4 on each side) 5/16" grade 12.9 bolts that went through the frame rail and were completed with self locking nuts in the wheel well. that way i could pull the motor and trans together out of the hood in one step for doing work. mine will clear any turbo setup avail probably.

OP- look into having a custom CM made. cutting the oem one and just rolling with it isnt the best idea out there.

FMIC doesn't = Hp?

How do you figure that out?

Why wouldn't guys just save money and buy a dinky little FMIC and run High HP? lol I promise you if you find a supra running a big turbo and making 700whp and put on a tiny FMIC it will not make 700whp.

sorry to clutter your thread. Have fun with the project, it's a fun road.

^FYI, my RX7 made 521whp with 3" piping and a massive 3"in-out IC. i took it off. made 2.5" pipes and an isuzu NPR intercooler and guess what?.... same damn hp level with a faster charge-fill time.

for the most part, IC's are sized in respect to turbo compressor efficiency.

if what you say was the case, why wouldnt people then just buy 4"in/out IC on their Greddy kits to make 12 billion hp?

those isuzu ic's are great arent they? I had one but I had it chopped down a little bit because it was so tall.

i was debating on picking up this kit before you did.... how'd you feel about cutting the crossmember?
the kit is lovely.. i had to do more cutting to the cross member then i planned but its kool... i was reading about two different guys with 2jz swaps and they both deleted the cross member and their cars are running fine

from the looks of it there is no room to mount a chromoly bar, or pipe actually, i doubt you'd want to use a solid bar there, it would probably weigh a hundred pounds or so lol

btw...theres no need for a fuel rail, don't waste your $ on it.

are you gunna move the fuse box too? looks like theres gunna be a lot of heat in that area.
hey whats up man.. im going to fab up some type of support for the front end not sure how and where yet... and yes the fuse box is going to replaces the battery's location and im goint to relocate the battery in the trunk
