You destroyed the clutch in 5K miles? It sounds like it went througha lot of abuse or improper break in to me.

So, isn't the Exedy clutch not the best clutch for forced induction?
And, to how much HP is this clutch rated??
Cause at what I'm reading right now on this thread looks like it's not the best one for forced induction or high HP gains.

I am still using my OEM clutch w/ 5k miles on the car after putting in the Vortech SC. Will be going to the ACT pressure plate, OEM clutch disk and fidanza flywheel soon.

Most of us are running the factory disk with the ACT pressure plate. The ACT disk has been a factory disk in disguise at a higher price. It works fine and holds up to my 250+ ftlbs torque daily.

yeah, but what if you're making like 400 to 500 HP??
Will that set-up hold? or would the Exedy kit be better?
Or do you recommend a different setup?

Clutch is measured by how much TORQUE it can handle not HP

I have ACT HD pressure plate, OEM Disc, Comptech flywheel, OEM release Bearing, OEM pilot bearing.

it is the best set up for any one who uses this car as a daily driver. My S is my weekend weekend driver. I avg 500-800 miles a month on this car.

I am in compliance with that criterion. The stock S2000 makes roughly 135 to 165 ftlbs torque depending on dyno type, year, etc. I currently estimate mine at double the factory output.

I use the gears to slow me down a lot to do you think this is why it wore out so quickly?

Also the exedy clutch is for racing use only. It is not meant for the street.

Would I be able to buy just the stock disks and use that with my exedy flywheel and I am guessing it came with the Exedy pressure plate. Would this be able to hold my power. Also would I be able to use it for now for a quick fix until i find my final solution.

if you didnt rev-match before disengaging the clutch, then yes, this will wear the clutch out very quickly.
I have about 8k miles on my Exedy, still holds as solid as day 1. Break-in was done over a 3200 mile road trip with 2 10 hour sections of bumper-bumper traffic....

Look, what I'm trying to ask is that, is there a good clutch combo out there for a turbo setup that would withstand all the abuse, I would put it true?
Considering the fact that I love to do clutch dumps
