Default Clutch in kills the motor...

Hey all, I used the search function and didn't come across anyone with my particular problem, or applicable fixes, so here we go (where's my beer?):

Car: '00 s2k, f20c ~100k, with GReddy bolt-on turbo kit, ACT ProLite FW and HD Clutch (both new, under 3k use).

Symptom: Engaging the clutch (pedal in) causes RPMs to dip, usually leading to stall, especially once vehicle is warmed up. Before car is warmed up, clutch can be engaged with success, however, manipulation needs to be slow and deliberate. A quick stab at the clutch kills the motor.

Band-aid: pushing revs to ~2k in combination with clutch manipulation will keep the motor running. Doesn't feel right, feels like I'm riding the clutch, which I'm sure is unhealthy (correct me if wrong, first time with a performance flywheel and clutch). If I am quick enough to get the car into neutral/shift and release the clutch, the motor will continue running (sometimes).

Previous owner suspected crankshaft end wear. However, I have observed the crank pulley, with the engine running or not, belt on or off. I have observed no movement whatsoever of the pulley in relation to the block during attempts at movement by hand, long screwdriver or stabs at the clutch.

Any help here would be appreciated. Is this just a drivability issue due to the mods? Or, is something more sinister at work?

Thanks!

Sounds like something with your tune. I'd post in the forced induction section, those guys know just about anything you'd need to know about a boosted S.

Look again. I can almost say for certain you have a damgaged thrust bearing in the engine.

ALL s2ks have back and forth movement in the crank. It only takes gentle pressure with a screwdriver to pull the crank forward, then use you hand and push it back. you will hear a knock. this is normal.

HOWEVER, I'm pretty certain yours will be excessive. use a dial indicator, pull it out and in, and measure the thrust.

Clutch in shifts the trigger wheel, and it looses crank signal. I've seen it first hand quite a few times.

And when you do see it, what's the least and worst of it that you've seen?

1)New Thrust Bearings, Turned Crank?
2)Bad Crank, Req Crank Replacement?
3)Bad Block, Req New Shortblock?

I just took one apart tonight. The crank and block are garbage. The thrust bearings were sitting in the oil pan. if yours is bad enough to stall the car, you need an engine.

Check your thrust. do it in neutral, car off of course. Pry out, then push in. see how far it moves.

Is this something that can be repaired/remedied when doing, say, a clutch change, to prevent catastrophic damage?

I think that has been a problem with the ACT Pressure plates correct?
