I don't wanna bother doing the clutch bypass mod OR changing my driving habbits. The only reason I wanna go with ACT is because I have plans on going with a supercharger down the road ....
There really is no simple 'yes' or 'no' answer. But here's as simple as it's going to get: based on the fact the condition of your thrust washers is unknown, your driving habits are unknown (to us in the forum), and your unwillingness to take simple measures to reduce thrust washer wear would drive me towards a NO answer to your question.

Crank walk is a concern anytime you run a higher clamping force PP. Any pressure plate with a higher clamping force will increase thrust washer wear - to include ACT's offering. If you don't take very simple steps to manage the increased loads - you will see increased wear and possibly experience catastrophic failure.

The driving habits I mentioned are common sense if you have a basic understanding of the mechanics involved. It doesn't matter what kind of manual transmission equipped car you drive - those habits are designed to minimize wear. It's how I learned to drive a manual - it's how I've driven every manual car I've owned (10 different cars to date - to include 3 of the 4 cars I currently own).

I agree, if you are not willing to take the steps to prevent it then no you should not use it and look into other options.

FYI, if you start using a ZDDP additive or oil with higher levels of ZDDP it should reduce your chances of thrust bearing failures. I would suggest doing a search here or on the net on the benifits of ZDDP.

Just to let everyone know... yes it was the thrust bearings. Billman, was right once again (though this time I wish he wasn't)

Ahh well, posted up a WTB ad for a longblock... hopefully someone can come through as I'd rather not buy a motor off ebay.
