Clutch set up
They might be referring to the whole thrust washer thing that some people have had issues with. But there are ways to help minimize the risk of this, i.e. disabling the clutch switch so you can start the car without having to hold down the clutch... not holding your clutch in at stop lights... etc.
What clutch is 2k? If your shooting for 4-450, then the Actpp and oem disc is your best bet. Anything over 450, you need to upgrade beyond that. However, price comparison as well. Act plate, then oem disc, then oem bearings, then compare that price too a comp 6 puck.

IMHO Speaking horsepower while the clutch is rated by torque holding capacity is a little misleading.
The ACT is rated about 370 ft lbs. ACT redesigned their S2000 clutch years ago to answer the thrust washer problems.
IMHO It is still prudent to limit the pressure on the thrust washer. The clutch switch bypass is very easy to do. I recommend it and agree

You can see roughly 400 to 700 horsepower with 370ft lbs torque depending on how you are boosting.
If you tune your engine keeping upper torque limits below the 370 ft lbs you will have no problem.
My supercharged setup is at about 350 ft lbs and the ACT clutch is handling it fine.
When you get to these torque numbers the tires have difficulty holding traction.
Rubber shorts are recommended.
I have had a lot of clutches for the s2000. I current use the science of speed carbon on carbon twin disc clutch
I can say that the best clutch on the market for the s2000 for any power level is the science of speed carbon on carbon twin disc. It will hold any amount of power you can make from 200whp to over 1000whp and the crazy thing is that it drive 100% like stock and the pedal is as soft as stock. But this clutch is a rip off at $2400 and is not needed if your not over 600whp.
I have also used the act hdss clutch for years and this is a great clutch. Its rated at 370tq but i have made over 600whp and over 400wtq and this clutch has never slipped. This clutch drive 100% like stock but the pedal is much heaver than stock. You wont notice it after a week of driving the car.
Any single disc puck style clutch like the act 6 puck or competition stage 4 any other single disc puck style clutch will drive like crap. If you daily your car and you have to drive in traffic these style clutchs will make you hate your car.
other twin disc clutches like the competiont twin disc and most other twin disc with the exception of the sciend of speed twin disc will all hold a lot of power and the pedal will be soft like stock and they are easy to drive but they dont last a long time and the clutch disc will have to be changed often with the exception of the sos carbon twin disc
I only recommend 3 clutches for the s2000 transmission. 1 Stock if your not boosted. 2 act hdss if your boosted and under 550-600whp. 3 sos twin if your over 600whp.
some pics of my clutch when i installed it a few years ago.

even the science of speed flywheel is carbon

even the science of speed flywheel is carbon
I run the act hd pp 360whp 240tq I have put about 5k miles on it i had a comp clutch in it but it only lasted 6k miles and the disk exploded i would not use there stuff ever. the act disk is noisy like the stock ap1 disk but it holds good. I to recommend removing the clutch switch and practice good driving habits.
Question for you guys. I didn't realize how addicting boost is and went with the SOS clutch and flywheel. It works perfectly but is only rated at 300 lb-ft and I'm currently at 270. I plan on doing some modifications which will likely have me over 300 lb-ft. So my question is can I just buy the ACT HD PP? The carbon SOS clutch is nice but I'd hate to spend $2400 even tho I know it works fine when I'm gonna be no where near 700 lb-ft.

^^^^ Exactly. I guess I wasn't clear in my question. I think 370 lb-ft is fine. Can I pair the ACT PP with the SOS disk or would I need to buy the oem disk. I guess I'm just kinda confused on exactly what I need.
