Comp Twin Clutch *street* Longevity
Just wanted to post to see what type of mileage you guys are seeing from your comp twin (and similar)
I have just about 3500miles on mine @ 300ftlbs and it just started slipping 2 days ago.

What is the expected lifespan on something like this? The car doesn't get driven hard at all, and has seen 0 track time.
Just around town driving with the occasional highway pull. I expected a decently quick rate of wear but this seems a bit much.

I would have thought these would last forever. My competition iron man still looked new after 15k miles of abuse when I pulled it out. Something is not right there. Are you sure your master cyl rod is adjusted properly. If it doesn't return all the way it can hold the release bearing and cause the clutch to slip.
I did buy the clutch used from a buddy. But he only had dyno time, and maybe 500miles on it. He was making 1200/800 however, but this is the version C, and should be plenty suited to hold that power.
Master seems to be adjusted fine, I have free play at the top of the pedal per Comps specs, and see no tension on the rod in a resting position.
I'm wondering if the high amt of tq he put through it could have caused some accelerated wear??? Even so, I think I should be getting more life out of it.

I guess if its worn your best bet would be to get new discs, should be much cheaper than a full replacement, anyone got any word on how long the clutchmasters 725 series will last? sorry for the thread jack
What is the recommended procedure for this type of clutch? Anything different then your regular single disc style? I didn't think that far into it, it's not super complicated, I figure they were broken in the same way other clutches were.
Can anyone else speak to this? If this is the case, it will be time to find another option. I drive the car 10K miles a year easy, if barely beating on the car, and around town/highway driving wears them that fast, It won't be worth it in my eyes.

Since posting this thread the other day, I have driven the car about 50 miles. What started as a light slip in higher gears (really had to load it up) has now turned into every gear, all the time. I have driven/replaced many worn clutches in my day, and something about this one just doesn't feel right.
1.When I discovered it was slipping, I loaded it up once, maybe twice. This was during the "You've got to fcking kidding me that clutch did NOT just slip" stage. After that I have driven the car VERY gingerly, with no slipping. Drove it home today, and decided to give it a bit more throttle to see if its gotten worse, its now 5x worse, and when I say gingerly, I mean it, we're talking less than 20% throttle, Very smooth input, to ensure it didn't slip further.
2. Took a look when I got it home today, Clutch master has visible leakage, nothing I can notice in the reservoir, but there was a drop of fluid hanging off the tip of it when I peeked my head under there.
Needless to say, the car is down for the time being. I know the car has an OEM clutch master, and hasn't been replaced (AP1 BTW), but still a bit at a loss on how that could cause the symptoms I am experiencing.
Any help/ideas are appreciated!
