Ok did a wet compression today results are 160, 162, 159, 163 warmed up and at WOT. Checked the guage I was using against 3 different ones there all fine so the gauges were reading correct. Ive come to the conclusion that its the rings. Pricing together the block today now.. woot woot

still doesnt seem all that bad, of course the wet test is going to increase your numbers on an older engine like yours, but the numbers are all within a couple PSI of each other, if you have the money than by all means build away, but that motor can be driven for quite a bit longer IMO with no issues.....

those numbers are consistent but they suck. sheesh even low compresison motors pull 180+. id rebuild it with mahle pistons if your block is good.

I keep going back and forth on weather i want to build the block myself or if I want to sent it out to laskey. I've built a bunch of motors before but I know laskey does such a good job with these motors and I just cant decide. Me and siadam were having this coversation the other day and I know if I send it there it will come back perfect. I priced everything out and it came out to $2100 for the whole bottem end if I was todo it myself or $3550 if I send it out to laskey but if I do it myself I wouldnt be blueprinting the block and micropolishing the crank. Anyone up for any ideas im all ears?

Laskey could polish the crank only for $150 and a few days turnaround if you wanted him to do it. I'm sure others near you may be able to also.
