Default Comptech S/C Airbox and filter alternatives

It may just be me but I'm not a big fan of the big Ol' CF looking airbox that the Comptech S/C comes with. Has anyone replaced it with something else?

I've seen pictures of S/C people with just a filter attached to the intake of the snail. Does this work well for you? Any loss in power from heat soak?

The S/C is already hot as it is and your intake temps from the filter are not going to make any real differernce. I have seen people use some of the foam filters, dont remember the name, but foam is one of the worst filtering materials around. The stock box is designed to help prevent hydrolock incase you get any splashes or water in that area. Personally, I am going with a AFE filter in the stock box.

How are you going to mount the stock air box with a supercharger installed?

The comptech airbox i meant, it seems he was asking to use a filter with no box as I understand.

That's correct. I've seen pictures of this done and it seem like it's mandatory on turbo charged cars. Just looking for opinions on either mounting the filter directly to the s/c snail or on a short pipe.

You have an engine damper with the CTSC? Could you also take a picture of how you mounted it to the engine.

thanks

I would like to have a regular top for the air box. I am not a big fan of CF.
