Default Comptech S/C running lean during vtec

My mods are as follows:
Comptech non after cooled kit
walbro 255 fuel pump
ricks pullies
test pipe
comptech exhaust

my fpr is cranked all the way down and is running fine below 6k. After 6k I'm right below 14.0 for a/f. What can I check to resolve this issue? also the whp didn't impress me either but could it be because of the a/f?

I had a couple run and had to tighten the belt so right now I can only turn it 90 degrees. when I was adjusting the fpr it made very minimal changes almost nothing to be honest

any help would be appreciated

thanks
Mike

Are you running the stock boost pulley ? What is your psi ? You may need to turn the FPR up a couple of clicks. The test pipe isn't helping matters either. You also mention you have the FPR turned all the way down. I'm not sure what you mean buy this but the FPR will adjust your fuel pressure. Too little will run it lean and too much will just overload the injectors. You may want to go see a tuner.

uut it on the dyno to see your AFR plot. Some have reported that the CTSC runs lean in the higher RPMs. Try removing the test pipe and but your stock cat back on and see what your AFR is. Your test pipe can make it run lean.

You might want to check and make sure all the hose is hooked up correctly and tightly to your FMU. I've read in the past that when the lines are not properly connected, it could make the FMU do bad things.

Through the PLX afr gauge, my AFR don't get up to the 13's until about 7-8K rpm. Right at vtec, my afr dips down to 11.5 and slowly climbs up.

I'm running 7psi pulley on Comptech and on my FMU I have 6 thread left to be turned up on the fuel pressure.

I have the stock 5.5 lb pulley. I did dyno the car thats how I know my a/f ratio is in the 13s after vtec. the fpr wasn't doing much when we were dynoing the car. I was trying a couple clicks at a time and it barely changed my a/f. I'm going to throw my stock cat back on and see if I could get a wideband. If that doesn't help it enough Im going to use my VAFC to adjust everything.

Ill post my dyno plot later on today.

if you guys have any other suggestions please let me know

thanks
Mike

yes I have been through all of this with my CTSC. First off you must get a wideband, really man. so I had a problem with my 255 Walboro supplying enough fuel do to unknown reasons so i returned it and replaced with a buddies used pump from a successful set up. If what I am about to tell you for proper set up does not resolve your lean running conditions then you likely are having a problem with your fuel pump.

I will tell you that my current set up should work for you as I have been able to run 8 psi on stock injectors at 11.1 redline with the stock CT kit and a test pipe. The mystery seems to lie withe the Fuel pressure. What you need to do really is hook up a pressure gauge and turn up your fpr until you get about 95-97 psi at WOT at redline, if I remember correctly that seemed to correlate to about 55-60 psi at idle, 100psi is full duty cycle for the stock injectors at which point they can fail I guess, so we have to ride pretty close to that line to get safe afr's. In how the CT esm management step up process works, your pre vtec afr will be super rich down in the 10.1 range and below now, here is where your vafc comes in. Tune it out.

Just for reference my low vtec settings are between -12 -15. and my fpr has about 2 threads left showing above the lock nut. set your stuff up this way and you will be good, if not good make sure and check your fuel pressure with a remote gauge to your cabin where a buddy can ride with you and verify that at redline you are getting about 95psi. pm me if you have any questions.

they were some walbro pumps sold that were not real walbros, they looked exaclty the same, but were no better than the stock unit, I have seen your problem on several cars, and after many hours of pulling hair we change pump and problem fixed, to see if you have a true 255hp, look in the output hole and you should see gears/bearring - they should be metal and big roller bearings,
