Comptech SC vs Vortech
Ok. I have searched this forum up and down and read all the vs between these two but nowhere does anyone tell me why the Comptech can be bought for 5300$ after cooled all day long and the Vortech for 4500$ aftercooled all day. In the scheme of 5000$ 800 difference in not that significant but I want to know what the 800$ is buying me. I am moments away from purchase and cannot find any parts or significant perfomance differences between the two and no one who has either says they wished the had bought the other. I would gladly spend the extra cash on the comptech if I had a compelling reason to. Sombody help.

i dont know about the vortech but the COMPTECH is so efficent its not even funny! it makes almost the same power hot as it does cold!! so your dyno numbers are true HP. they have put alot more RnD time into the comptech kit and thats why they back their kit up 110% and so do I.

Im sure this has been talkede about numerous times, but Comptechs kit makes same amount of power with less boost. Also its easier to adjust fuel pressure. I believe the polished Vortech kit cost more while all of Comptechs kits are polished. Comptechs easier to install since you dont have to tap a oil return hole in the oil pan.
Vortech has more power potential.

I got a chance to look at a comptech kit while it was about to be installed.
First, the polishing on the Comptech seems to have a better smoother finish than the vortech (although this can vary from unit to unit). However, the aftercooler isn't fully polished, Vortech's is.
I like the fact that the Comptech is mounted with rubber bushings or at least thats what it looked like. I would imagine it cuts down vibration. The Vortech unit or at least mine does tend to give vibration.
Aftercooler hoses seem to be precut for the comptech not for the Vortech
Seems that there are a lot less wires to connect with the Comptech.
Comptech inlcudes nice red/blue fittings, Vortech includes brass ugly fittings.
Comptech's tensioner is a lot better, vortech sucks
If I had to buy another SC I would defenitely for the Comptech instead. The reason why I bought vortech was because i've known vortech for over 10 years and I know they been in the SC business for long. i only knew Comptech very recent as far as SC's go.
These are my impressions, may/may not be accurate, I had a chance to look at it for a bit.
Now, maybe Slows2k can answer this, How the hell does Comptech control timing? As opposed to Vortech using the timing controller.

I am guessing that the stock knock sensor does a pretty damn good job given the amount of owners on here with many many miles on theirs.
