Personally I prefer the Comptech kit. It is easier to install (electronics and oil drain)
In the past there were talks about the drain. It was said, and I dont remember who or what sources said this, but it was said that because the drain in the Comptech was in the pan, that it wouldn't drain properly or as freely as Vortech does. Any comments on that?

I do agree that Comptech, for the little time i've known them, they put out a quality unit and they take the guess out of the installation process

Both kits have the oil drain in the pan. The Comptech elected to put the fitting into a drain plug. The Vortech needs to have the oil pan drilled and tapped. The tapped one, of course, is above the oil level. However, both work just as well, but the Comptech doesn't ruin your oil pan.

I would imagine that the return line being submerged in oil would not flow as well as one being out of the oil,its almost like blowing air through a straw with the end submerged in water, and then doing the same thing with the straw out of water.I personally don't like the thought of constantly messing with the return line every 3k to change the oil, thats just asking for trouble! It should be noted that vortech customer service is just god awful!!I just installed one of there kits and was missing parts and then running lean.I called them several times and it was like i was talking to a robot.I left my number for them to call me back and im still waiting!!!Both kits have there pros and cons.

I was a little concerned about the oil return line ending below the pan oil level, in place of the drain plug. I concluded that if draining was a problem, Comptech would have found the problem, due to failed planetary units being returned.

If it can

Ok. I have searched this forum up and down and read all the vs between these two but nowhere does anyone tell me why the Comptech can be bought for 5300$ after cooled all day long and the Vortech for 4500$ aftercooled all day. In the scheme of 5000$ 800 difference in not that significant but I want to know what the 800$ is buying me. I am moments away from purchase and cannot find any parts or significant perfomance differences between the two and no one who has either says they wished the had bought the other. I would gladly spend the extra cash on the comptech if I had a compelling reason to. Sombody help.
extra $800 would probably be because the kit is more user friendly and most honda dealerships accept this modification and let you keep your warranty.

Uhhhh...no.

Some maybe, but not "most."

I don't believe they actually let you keep your manufacturers warranty and for sure, any HondaCare extended warranty is gonzo. What happens is the dealer becomes an "authorized" Comptech dealer and installer. When this happens, an "agreement" is entered into such that if something goes wrong with your car as a result of the kit being on the car (and assuming there is no abuse or further modification to the kit), that dealer and Comptech will see to it that you are "taken care of". If the dealer is NOT an "authorized" Comptech outlet, good luck getting any warranty coverage. If you put the thing on yourself and you expect warranty repair? ..............................................
Your $800.00 buys you a kind of "in house" warranty. They just like to keep you thinking that you still have Honda warranty (allows the owner to feel warm and cuddly). For all intents and purposes (for the owner), there is no difference.
