Default Comptech SC without intake box

Hi, I have a comptech sc with 7lbs pulley and I love it. The only problem I have is that the top of the carbon fiber intake box/ lid is hitting and rubbing on my topsecret hood. Its to the point that I now have a large and ugly rub line across the intake lid. I'm thinking about just removing the intake box and just having an exposed element, like you would see on your standard AEM intake. Has anyone done this and are there any problems. Thanks for any info.

Do you have the rain channels installed on the TS hood? If not, then make sure that the first vent isn't over the filter or rain water will drip onto the filter. If you do have the channels installed, is this what's contacting the airbox top? I'm running an exposed JR filter with my Vortech and TS hood with no rain channels and I've got a homemade rain shield on the filter.

I have the rain channels removed, but it still rubs. The vents on the hood are inverted so they seem to just be too low. I might be able to shave off some of the underside of the hood, but I'd rather just remove the intake box since it is already damaged. Xviper, I really appreciate the help. Can I buy a replacement lid from comptech?

I don't know for sure. I imagine that if you contact Comptech, they'll sell you almost anything.

The car will bog out more from heat soak without the box, I tried it. Also the filter and Comptech intake tube will shutter and move around alot sine the box was the only thing supporting it.
