comptech tunning
Is there anyway a tuner can tune my car with just the fuel pressure regulator that came with the comptech, if so can i squeeze out a little more hp?

Picking up a cheap used Apexi Neo will allow you to lower your VTEC point and (if you are an AP1) lean out the top-end of your power curve. I consider Junky up above me the godfather of the supercharger/VAFC application; if you search you will find quite a few posts by him (and now by myself) on the topic. You can spend 1 hour on a dyno (or just on the street if you have a good wideband gauge with datalogging capability) and optimize the settings for your rising-rate fuel pressure regulator and the Apexi Neo. It will net you a decent chunk of mid-range power and a few spare horses up top, and a muuuuch smoother power band.

This is true. Just depends on how satisfied you are with the current base 5-7psi and if it’s worth it to you to optimize it. For the minimal cost of a vafc, you can improve the tune quite a bit. The wideband is crucial to street tuning, but is good to have no matter what power level so its just a normal/necessary FI investment.

Several years ago at my panicle SC/vafc stage, I was running 375whp @ 11psi with water/meth. I don’t think there was anyone that pushed it this far. Eventually it caught up to me, but I put a good 50,000 miles on that set up before I ran a cylinder lean and scored the cylinder walls. Anyway, 5-7psi incorporating a vafc with the stock injectors and RRFPR works well and reliably for a lot of years. Just don’t get greedy. If you want more boost then you will need to upgrade the injectors and that means ditching the RRFPR for some form of EMS.

I had trouble running7 psi on that setup even with 68-70 psi static fuel pressure but we have the 10% ethanol fuel which does make a difference as I have gone to Oklahoma and filled up with strait 91 and it didn't lean out and that was with 50% meth middle sized injector the vafc. its a good cheap way to pick up some mid range. man the difference with the aem id 1000,s and 8-9 psi boost on a 2.2l is amazing I made 310 hp yesterday in 100f heat with belt slip at the top end 8 psi would have made another pass but it was getting late thinking I will have 320 hp at 9 psi at 8500 rpm you can make really good power on emanage I have made 340 hp at 11 psi on a 2.0l so just keep in mind the fuel available to you and junky really has pushed these setups

Just upgrade and be done with it....injectors, pulley, stand alone ems, tune...and you might as well get a larger heat exchanger as well. You wont be sorry...the difference is amazing. BUT, it is a bit addictive...I went from 5psi, to 10 psi to 16...
Most of the gains are in the lower to mid range rpm, where the afr is otherwise too rich and where the new lowered vtec switch point is. Peak isn't going to change much because your pretty much at the limit of fuel with the RRFPR as is up top along with full timing advance. Having more power from 3k-6k rpm is a nice and noticeable improvement over what you have now. If your purely looking at raising your peak number, the vafc wont deliver more then a few hp at the very last 500rpm on the ap1, which I wouldn't recommend leaning out for with safety in mind. Ap2 wont get you anything up top.
