Seriously, tuning with RRFPR is extremely ghetto. Adding a VAFC to is just a bandaid.

Get an aftermarket ECU and a custom tune. You won't be sorry.

I disagree. At the base 5-7 PSI the RRFPR and a VAFC work great to accomplish a smoother powerband and a reliable setup without spending the cash on a standalone ECU and tuning time. You just have to limit yourself to the base PSI.

OP - This is a dyno chart from when I was still NA. Pink is bone stock baseline. Blue is bolt-ons (intake/header/HFC/exhaust). Red is same bolt-ons tuned with the VAFC to lower VTEC and marginally lean out the top end. Note the gains in the mid-range where VTEC used to engage prior to the VAFC, the smoother/more linear curve, and the reduced fall-off near redline.



I would image the gains would be more pronounced with FI.

Which particular model did you use cool guy? And would it be worth using a newer model? Did you splice or use a plug and okay harness?

I had the Apexi Neo with the Boomslang plug-and-play harness.
