Thumbs down Confessions of a F/I Noob, dont do what I did

I am sharing how much of a douche I am to make sure people can at least learn from my mistakes.

I went and spent $50.00 at a shop to throw on my 70mm test Pipe, I figured I would see if I get boost creep, now that its warmer out. After the install I bringit up to around 6,000rpms it creeps to slightly over 10, 11 at the most. I go to "turn down my Boost controller", take it out for another test drive, creeps even worse. Go back to the shop have them but the CAT back on (for free), and low and behold my boost is out of control, easily past 10. I get home look at my Manual Boost controller, and realize It was backwards from how I was looking at it form the directions................

You guessed it, my dumbass turned the Boost all the way up. Now I can't turn the screw with the Allen Key, becuase it is stripped, so I had to take it off completely, now I am boosting a safe & steady 7PSI.

Some lessons I learned

1). If I took my time, maybe the Test Pipe would be ok (should of turned the goddamn Boost down correctly)
2). I am out $50.00 as well as another $100.00+ for a new Boost controller
3). Running a Test pipe without a Tune is stupid anyway.

Once again in a long list of mistakes I made in life, alwasy kicking myself after...........

I was gonna say I used a turbo xs boost controller on my 3076r on my scion tc for 25psi, i experienced no issues with it what so ever. It's a great boost controller.

yeah, Im so annoyed, I don't have it now now, my Boost is around 7PSI . I would assume if I had done it correctly I would not have had creep issues with the Test Pipe. Oh well, maybe I will just go the legal way anyway and see about a High-Flow Cat...........

Sorry to hear about all the "drama".
Dont be sad though, and look at the brighter side of things.. You could have blown your motor and been out a couple of grand.

Happy Friday!

Maybe it's best you run on 7lbs for a while.

UD.

I am overnighting another TurboXS Manual Boost controller, its amazing the differance between my now 7PSI, as opposed to the 10psi I have been running. Either 3lbs makes a large differance or I broke something Runs good, just not 10psi good.

Stupid Question, but once I put the boost controller on and set it up and get back to 10PSI, my tune should remain the same right? I mean nothing changes like for example ECU gets used to only 7lbs??????

Well, 10PSI is not "motor blowing boost", Toan tuned it 10PSI, besides, it only "spikes" to 10PSI then settles to around 9PSI, when I get the controller Ill set it to around 9ish and call it a day.

Your right though, I think I have pushed my luck to the absolute limit.......
