confortable clutch and turbo
Hi guys i'm running a custom turbo build on my f20c, right now my car is around 500 HP ( to the crank) and i have no idea of the the torque. Can anyone give me an advice about what clutch would be good for STREET USE, I need it to hold the power but to be as close as possible to the stock clutch feeling.
right now i'm running a Exedy oem replacement, got 5000 miles on it and tonight during a hard 3rd shift the clutch slip really bad and it smell... i did a 1-2-3 pull after that and no slip at all.. i think thats a warning so i better replace it soon before i break it.
so what would be the best bang for the buck for a simple and reliable clutch kit that is close to OEM feel on the pedal if possible and what brand?? there is so much choice, ive heard about ACT but thats it

I've been happy with my Clutchmasters clutch (FX400, 6 puck / sprung disc)
Just slightly heavier than stock pedal feel. A little on/off, but you are able to feather it a bit
I'm at 600hp / 430tq....has never slipped on me (but I will say I do not drive super aggressive)

act hdss for 500whp and below and science of speed carbon twin disc for 500whp+ Both of these clutches drive amazing and do not hurt the drivability of the car like most 6 pucks or other twin disc clutches

U got 5k miles out of a exedy oem replacement @ 500hp?!?!?
Do u have a super lite flywheel?
And or high Final Drive?

What type of manifold?
Whats the turbo?
How many lbs you running?
Injs? Fuel type?
I got the balladesport turbocharger spec clutch kit and it catches like a rock through the gears and keeps jolting the car through the atmosphere. It's rated for way more trq. Then I will push as well. I like it, it's pucked on both sides but there smaller, and there is more of them just on a steel disc plate. Gives you the pucked increased catch performance with a little extra friction zone then having a 4-6 puck disc, and pressure plate felt lighter compared to stock. It does buzz though on low mph deceleration like out your driveway coming to a stop sign, things like that.

I was a little bit afraid of how on/off my 6 puck sprung ACT would be... But I must say, it's not as bad as I thought. The pedal feel is pretty much the same as stock, and it's pretty easy to slip and drive gently. I don't understand why everyone hates on these clutches.
I have driven a 4 puck rigid clutch once on a 350Z.... THAT is on/off! You can't slip these clutches for easy take off. It's made for launching/drifting.
The 6 puck sprung is allright. You'll get used to it pretty quick
