Default Cooling freaks, I need your help!

Here's a quick rundown of whats happening and what I've tried.

My buddies 08 CR with 16k miles
Custom turbo setup
Condensor fan is a slim fan (he doesn't remember the brand)
Radiator cooling fan is OEM
T-stat is stock

@ highway cruising his factory temp gauge will read 1-2 bars above normal. Normal being 8bars on the AP2.
According to modifry website the scaling on the bars from 8-9 is 17x-225 which is a big difference, and for the car to be running any higher than that is pretty dam hot.

Well the vehicle hasn't been running for very long with the turbo setup but after it was tuned is when we noticed the issue.
I hooked up flashpro when we got home and cruising for jsut a few miles his ECT was reading an avg of 215. (still showing 8 bars on temp gauge) he says on a hot day or on a longer hwy drive it tends to get higher, and in city driving it stays at 8 bars.

I've done the following:
-Bleed cooling system to be sure there are no air pockets
-Done several compression tests
-Did a leak down test
- He's tried adding that "water wetter" stuff or w/e but it did nothing at all LOL
-When the car is above 8 bars, he turns the heater on and it helps quite a bit, but regardless this motor is getting too hot IMO
All test showed the motor to be fine, and bleeding cooling system helped none at all.

I took the hood off and we went on a drive for a few miles and the ECT dropped 20* to a steady 196* which is within normal allowable temps, but still high compared to my car and others on the forum. My car at cruising rarely will ever see over 190* unless in traffic.

Tonight we are probably going to pull the T-stat out and run it straight and check the ECT to see if this helps.

Need some ideas. Please help me to help him!!

I may have left some details out as I did this in a hurry. If you have any questions, lmk.

Is his radiator completely blocked? 215 isn't crazy high though. Is that the temp he is worried about?

his FMIC is pretty tall which may be the culprit.
the 215 isn't necessarily too high, but it is higher then i'd feel comfortable with, being over 8bars is 225*+ which IS too high.
215 is only @60-70mph for a few miles it still climbs passed 215 slowly if we continue driving at that constant speed for extended periods. Being on the hwy it climbs over 9+ bars at times. Thats where the worry comes in even more.

I had the same issues. Got 2 SPAL fans, cooler Tstat and cooler fan switch. Runs at 180-190 with AC on and lotsa boosted runs. No issues now.

If your driving on the expressway wit hthose wind speeds accross the front and its still gaining in temperature, you may have found your culprit.

at highway speeds your egt temps will be high but your coolant temps should be lower wit hthe airflow through the rad and the water pump spinning constantly.

do what I asked my tuner to do lower the threshold where the rad fans come on at...my fans come on at 194 or maybe 196...either way it helps a bunch and my car never gets over 205ish

well I have a boosted CR, and my FMIC covers my entire front.

I used to be on stock fans and radiator, the only thing I did was more water, less coolant, and a high pressure radiator cap. And the little cover deal for the hood latch.

I never saw over 205, and I'm from Central Texas.

I used to track the car hard (HPDE's) and the highest it ever got was 230.

I felt that was way too hot and got a Mishimoto radiator, and I'm still on stock fans.

You 100% sure you guys got it completely bled out? Maybe you should see how the heater feels when he's over heating

Is he tuned on AEM?

If so, it could be his calibrations for the temp are wrong, there is a thread on here w/the correct setup. It will show 15-20 high.

You obviously didn't read half of the original post did you?

Just giving you a hard time.
CR= MY08+ = DBW = NO AEM
Plus my post says I hooked up Flashpro

I will try some things tomorrow and update this thread again as needed.
TY for all those who have commented so far.

Also for "ihiryu" we're also in texas, south east area about an hour and a half from houston.

Heater is nice and toasty everytime, as long as the car has been warmed up enough.
