Cost considerate turbo kit
Well, i was here couple of days ago comparing what i should get: 350z,s2000,evo, or STI.
But hey i went with a s2000 and i love it! I've never driven anything close to it, handles like a dream.
I've already hit the "search" botton and looked up information on turbo or supercharger.
What i found: SC is for track, Turbo is for street/drag
I would be going for a turbo. http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Produ...gradeKit.shtml
As by reading i found out that 8-10k would cost for a good turbo on s2k. Now i'm most likely not the richest guy here.
I'm 19. Work on pay-check to pay-check.
The kit i choose: Is it any good?

Hey man - I'm 25 but I'm still finishing up my undergraduate (I'm a studio art major) and I work 3 part time jobs! It's all about being thrifty. I have a great kit being installed right now and it's only costing me just over 6k. My mods are in my sig.
It includes the turbo kit, clutch, headgasket, injectors, AEM EMS, custom 3" single, installation of everything, AND tuning. All for "just" over 6k. You can do it cheap, you just have to buy stuff used and be smart about what you buy. If you can do installation on your own, you'll save even more money. If you go with a Greddy Emanage, you'll save even more. If I wanted to, I could have gotten away with 4K for an entire turbo setup, but I'd only be making 350 or so and my hp goals are 450@15psi and 9:1 compression.
I mean, the best option would be to save the money, especially if you haven't finished paying off the car (I only owe 5K left on mine - I could have paid it off
). Being that you're young, you have plenty of time to drive fast cars - and when I was 19 I was beating the crap out of my cars and wasn't a safe driver. However, if you're set on speed, I say go for it. There is a Lovefab setup on sale RIGHT NOW in the FS forums for 3K (you'll just need to buy management and a few misc. things). It's a used kit, but it's nearly 9K brand new.
If I were you though, I'd focus on school or whatever it is you're doing, and work on lightening the car and maybe get a nice set of lightweight wheels. Or, get a set of 4.77 gears. You'll hang with Evos and STi's easily with those gears and it'll only cost you a grand. Then again, there's always nitrous too
Think about it for a few months, you don't have to do it right now. I've been in your situation, living week to week and sometimes it's not fun, especially when you have an awesome car but can't afford to take a hot girl out because you're broke. It's not fun at all. I'd learn the car and have fun with it as is, save your money, and decided what you want to do in a year or so. Trust me, it's worth the wait and you'll thank yourself later.
peace

Well written. Justin, doesn't it seem like just yesterday when you were 19? To the Op, you may run into some complications with your turbo install, and to avoid having the car sit while you wait to save up money to pay for the unexpected stuff that will arrive, just hold off for a bit until you have a couple grand extra just in case...Or just put it all on a credit card
Haha yep! When I was 19 I was trashing my old del sol - it was the slow S model (105hp sohc non vtec with auto tranny). I gutted the car, had AEM intake, AEM cam gear, AEM underdrive pullies, DC header, Random Technology high-flow cat, Greddy/Trust exhaust, Altezza taillights, Eibach Sportline springs, and the car was white, with white ADR Revolution wheels (Axis Touring Cup rip-offs) and a white/red color theme and white indiglo gauges and red windshield washer nozzels. Remember the ones that glowed down the length of the hood? Yep, I had em
Wow, just thinking of all the money I blew on that slow thing just kills me now.
All the interior plastics that I left like the vents were painted white and red. That thing was riced to the max - but I was actually able to take the Si model and stock Civic EX's

The right kit will come along one day and you'll know it when you see it. Don't rush into anything; the car is pretty fun as it is stock. Just enjoy what you have, and when you know that you are ready, start looking for some kits and the right one will come around.
