Default CTSC AfterCooler alternative

UPDATE 9-17-2009

i received the unit today and did a test fit. it turns out it wont work. the blower outlet in relation to the TB just dont match up with the frozenboost aftercooler. And the AC hits the triangular bracket the blower is mounted on. Also the two outlets on the unit are only 2.5in OD. The blower has a 3.0in ID and the TB has a 2.5in ID. here are some pics.

i dont have the dimensions of an actual CTSC AC but this looks like it could work. Has anyone every used a third party AC? Should i risk it?

i'm going to go for it too, just a matter of when. frozenboost has the kit for 'bout $280 (core, radiator, pump) and it's not the ridiculous $1000 that comptech was originally charging. for now, i have to resolve the clutch issue (still deciding on model). i'm going on leave in two weeks and i'll want to tackle the beach of an install when i have lots of adequate time (floor jack fun!).

I've got the CT AC and this one looks like it would work, the inlet/outlets (asuming are the right diamiter) are in the right location. The mounting tabs/holes are not used on the CT, the unit is free floating, only attachment points are the water lines, the air pump hose (which this doesnt look to have) and suported by the intake/outlet couplers.

regarding the air pump hose, on the oem it's attached to the intake, so on the comptech you could just attach it on the non-boosted pre-supercharger section, right? does it even need to be hooked up to the intake tract at all? i'd think it's hooked up there for filtered air, maybe just hook up a little filter for it, any opinions on that idea? frozenboost does sell couplers with t-flanges for mounting bov's or air boost tubing too.

The air pump hose is post filter abviously no matter what set up you have, you may be able to hook it up somewhere else and not have a problem. If your a EMS user then you dont need it. I still use mine since there is a fitting for it on the CT AC, but I have read here on s2ki that it will trip a cel if its disconnected and your still utilizing the facoty ecu. No one to my knowlege has been able to work around this. But I wouldnt let that stop me from saving $600+ on this aftercooler and make something work.

i'm not understanding this tubing, oem aka NA the tubing is vacuum and then with the comptech it's on the charge pipe and it's pressurized, so by the two examples of NA and FI the air pump pumps and is not affected by the pressure or vacuum of the air in the intake tube. i can't see how the darn thing would trip a CEL if somebody just hooked up a fitting for a baby filter. i'll have to do some research on this and i certainly don't feel like paying $97 for the challenge air pump delete kit either. i'll probably unplug it from the intake and see what happens or find some fitting to mount it to the rubber intake tubing (pre-supercharger).

Thats what i would try first. If someone makes a $97 dollar fix fo rthis then thats better then a cel or a ems purchas if you werent planning one shoul dsome other mod not work. I dont know what the pump reads to signal a kick off and on, thats what you have to simulate. A filter may not do the trick but its worth trying. Apperently pressure in the pipe doesnt matter. I wouldnt think temp either.
