I have been checking into a way to make the wideband O2 sensor from the RSX Type S work with the S2K version of Kpro. With most of the credit for the research of where to attach to the board and how to go about wiring it in I have slighly improved on JustinCs procedure and done the conversion myself.
Here are some pics.
I'll post up more and in more detail once I finish but this seems to be a major improvement over the method JustinC used where the whole daughterboard had to be de-soldered.
here is a link to the thread with JustinCs info...
Hey special ops... i'm thinkking going turbo again but through inline pro... i had the AEM EMS 1052U first time around but i wanted to go with hondata...
I didnt know it didnt used the wideband... is it that much more important to have the wideband? or would i be just fine without it?
also, ive followed some of your threads from aem to hondata and you were happy.. but could you elaborate on how much better it was to make that move? thanks! love your setup!
it depends on how you want to run the car, really. using the RSX wideband is nice to have the car compensate for ambient climate changes but the kpro software itself has its limitations - the biggest being that at this time you are not allowed to change the target AFR. it must remain at 14.7
why would anybody want to change target lambda? better gas mileage, for one thing. my tuner set my car up to run in open loop all the time. this allowed him to set my map up to his liking without fear of the computer changing anything based on lambda in the first place. this might sound a little crazy and unsafe but if you think about it it's not always a bad thing. when you go WOT the car will switch over to open loop anyway so it will ignore the sensors to begin with. closed loop driving is reserved for daily driving and cruising at low and moderate engine speeds. the 14.7 target AFR from what i am told is more for emissions. at cruising speeds, my car sits around the mid 15s to mid 16s and it does not hurt anything. maybe some tuners can chime in here.
it's for this reason alone that using the RSX o2 in my car is not a good idea for me. since i want to run a leaner target afr it would be silly to use the o2 sensors since you cannot change the target lambda value in kpro.
in other words - if you'd like to use the RSX wideband go for it, but it's really all in how you want to set your car up.
