Default DIY: CAI for an SOS SC kit

I get regular PMs on this forum from people looking for information on how I made a CAI for my SOS kit. I did this back in 2011 on my first SOS SC kit, I no longer run a CAI and do not have any information other than what is listed in this first post. I do not remember everything, but here is what you will need.

1 90 degree 3.5inch silicone hose (Notice the one in the picture have long ends, most do not) http://www.intakehos..._Code=90B-350X6
1 45 degree 3.5inch silicone hose (Notice the one in the picture has long ends, most do not) http://www.intakehos..._Code=45B-350X6
1 45 degree aluminum pipe http://vibrantperfor...products_id=785
1 3.5inch union (comes with the SOS kit)
1 3.5inch air filter (comes with SOS kit)
5 hose clamps (2 come with the SOS Kit)
1 Spal low profile 2 inch thick series slim fan for passenger side of car. I do not have the dimensions for this, you need to figure this out but I think it was either a 12 or 14 inch fan. The fan I bought was between 900 and 999 CFM.
Custom made brackets to bolt the fan to the radiator (zip ties work too, but I do not recommend it)
solder gun/iron for transferring the connector for the old fan to the new fan.

Good luck!
Dustin

Just a reminder to folks, 3.5" is a freaking huge pipe. Routing it and getting clearance can be a challenging to say the least.

Did it make HP or just help with IAT? Both?

I did not do back to back testing with or without. IAT was cooler, and the SC noises were not as loud.

Do more bends in the intake piping hurt performance? I remember reading in another thread that the longer the intake the more you would most likely make(Wadzii).

Also have you ever thought of using a hydro Sheild for extra insurance? Do they even work?

N/A is one thing, SC might or might not be the same.

I would definitely make shield to stop water from entering via hood drainage.

thanks for the detailed pics, I ran mine through the headlight side hole, had to make it bigger to fit the pipe, I had brake ducks already running at the bottom where you ran your pipe, also I have the beatrush underpanel where that vertical aluminum reinforcement plate is in the way and I would have to cut a whole new hole weakening it, vs enlarging the headlight one.
