S2000 Forced Induction S2000 Turbocharging and S2000 supercharging, for that extra kick.

I see that some of your cars are in Cali. If you are thinking turbo, none of the kits are currently CARB legal whereas both the Comptech and Vortech SC kits are.

The extended warranty: was it $5,000 for an ADDITIONAL 4 years beyond the Honda 3/36?

Halo:

Thanks for the post. I completely forgotten all about the "CARB" legal thing in California. One of my friends (who happens to be an LAPD) did mention to me about this law.

I'm still doing a lot of research regarding supercharging/turbocharging MY06 (hence all the questions I've posted here). I didn't know that none of the turbo kits availble for S are CARB legal here in CA. Some of the sites I've visited (which sell turbo kits for The S) didn't mention anything about not being CARB legal in CA. I think they expect the buyers to check each state laws.

This forum has taught me a lot (nothing beats the free advise I get from the EXPERTS here). It goes for other various threads on our sites. The info is quite overwhelming, but I find it best that I educate myself before jumping to something I know very little knowledge. We all hate making mistakes and I'm going to do my best to avoid mistakes when it comes to decision-making. I've purchased a dummy guide to hacks and mods. I don't expect to become an expert after reading this book. I only expect to familiarize myself as well as understand the concepts involve with engine modifications.

Yes, the $5K is an additional 4 years beyond Honda's 3/36. It also includes roadside assistance til 2013. It may have been a stupid decision, but it's done. I've already moved on.

Perhaps, my decision (based on the info you have provided) will now be based on supercharging MY06. I hate breaking the law especially when I have a few friends in the law enforcement.

I guess my research will now be based purely on supercharging, whether I should choose Comptech over Vortech or vice versa. I know some the guys here prefer Comptech's, others prefer Vortech's. I guess my final decision will come down to a reputable mechanic who is nearby where I work or live in case of engine emergencies. I must admit that I'm a little disappointed to know that turbocharging is no longer an option. I was so "psyched" with xviper and CaptKirk's input.

I honestly don't mind paying more for the installation and the up-keep/maintenance of the supercharger if the mechanic is nearby as well as honest and knowledgeable.

Thanks again for the info Halo

Gathering and learning all of the concepts/information about modifications yourself is definitely the best thing to do. It is better to understand everything yourself and make a decision based on that rather than always asking people "what should I do... x or y?" Everyone might not always have the same goals, ideas and thought process as you do...and then it won't really be "your" car anymore would it . You just have to make sure that in your research you cover every aspect as well as possible and are getting good and proper information so that your decisions are based on accurate information.

As far as supercharging and turbo charging is concerned...although the reliability and general "ease of use" of turbochargers on the S has come a long way, its still not as "reliable" and headache free as superchargers in general. I personally don't know much about superchargers, but from my limited knowledge, the comptech is easier to install and deal with than the vortech, but the vortech has a slight edge in terms getting extra power. Although I personally know people that have/had very highly modded vortech and comptech superchargers on their cars pushing some very high HP numbers. So its not like you CAN'T have a lot of power with either setup. I'm sure xviper can give you more and better information on superchargers.

Now all you have to wait for is for someone to make a supercharger setup for the MY06 Good luck with the research...and wait

What happens to your mpg when you either supercharge or turbocharge your S?

I've heard people say they gain a little which I feel I should raise the but I'm not sure...

I would think you would lose a little rather gain but, I'm no expert on FI

Sorry for the novice question

Your mpg won't get any better. I don't know who would say that. Maybe you misunderstood.
For a supercharger, you are always turning an extra load, therefore, slightly more fuel useage. If you go into boost, you will burn much more fuel.
For a turbo, since it's running off exhaust gases, there won't be much difference in fuel economy UNTIL you get into boost. Then you'll use more gas.
