Do I need a Flex Pipe for the Greddy Turbo Kit?

Thanks bro, I would love to come for a ride, but I am in Jersey. I was going to use the Carbon HKS Ti Mufflers, 3 in inlet with 120mm tips I believe...... I will keep the stock cat on when I first install the Turbo kit anyway, If its not too loud Ill do a test-pipe and get it re-tuned. The HKS Mufflers are pretty big, I heard they sound good, but agian I don't know if that was 2.5 piping or 3.0, well see
That sounds like a good plan.

Here are 2 of my exhaust comparison videos:

InlinePRO 3" Single (FI):

Stock vs Invidia dual (naturally aspirated):

Unless your driving balls to the wall all the time, the 3" single is very quiet, the numbers don't lie

My suggestion is still to get a ride in a car w/ the exhaust if possible, or better yet, drive it. Everyone's opinion on loudness is different. And i'm not sure on how Spec_Ops2087 did the sound test, but we do our sound tests here by CA regulation (X" off the ground, XX" away from the tip, and XX degrees angle from the tip @ 75% of peak HP RPM level).

My system didn't sound loud to me at first b/c i really didn't pay attention to it to be honest. Too into driving the car. But now, since the excitement has settled, and i drive the car longer distances (80+ miles at times), i notice the annoying drone (no matter what throttle position) at highway cruising.

I have the T1R 70mm Sparrow on my turbo'd 2.2 with the test pipe and it's not loud at all. You can get a flex-pipe from Ya at InlinePro.

My dB meter was 4 feet from the tailpipe and 1 foot off the ground. dB readings were taken at different rpm levels as indicated by the video

Thats good to know. Just for reference, the dB readings that manufacturers give when they advertise their exhaust systems are a lot closer. Again i don't know the exact measurements, but it looks like its a little over a foot from the tip. So a good amount closer than 4 feet. If we did your readings for you by regulation, they would be a lot higher!

Right, but when you hear an exhaust, your ears arn't next to the tailpipe either

I tired to make it a little more realistic. All my videos followed the same procedure though so atleast you can compare them all with each other.

also can I just do the exhaust straight back to a flex pipe to the down pipe, without buying an official "Test Pipe", or am I going to need the O2 bug sensor thing. Basically what I am asking is if I will get a CEL on my o4 if I remove the cat with just a 3in straight pipe from the muffler shop.................
