Do i need a Peak and Hold driver?
I'm VERY close to going turbo and am buying the last items I will need before i do the install... gauges and such... I have decided on the Defi BF gauges. I have an AEM 1052 and want to buy the 6 in 1 Wideband Gauge controller unit is there any helpful info in setting this up or installing it that anyone could offer? I want to put it on the left side of the wheel where the remote stereo controls are located... also I have seen lots of setups on here mention they are using the AEM Peak and Hold injector driver? What is this and what are the pros to having this over not? How does it work and do you need a different type of injectors to work with it? Lastly I want the AEM to control my boost so I know I will need the AEM or GM boost sensor, which do you suggest and what else will i need / how will i set this up with my 1052?
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the help!
You only NEED a peak and hold controller if your injectors are peak and hold.
As for boost solenoids, definitely the AEM. The GM is ok but not known for reliability. And if it losses power it defaults to wastegate closed rather than the falling back on the spring.

so is there a benefit of having peak and hold injectors over regular ones?
The downside is cost. Since our stock injectors are saturated, you can't just replaced them with p&h injectors. You must also buy the p&h injector driver to make them work.
The injector is basically a valve. But it pulses on/off with duty cycle (% of time spent open) called out from the pulsewidth values in the cells of the ECU. The injector is asked to accurately flow a tiny trickle of fuel at idle. But at the other extreme, it must provide lots of fuel flow to make lots of horsepower. If you get large saturated coil injectors (to reach high HP level) they will usually have a poor idle.
Do some more research. The internet has tons of information.
