Default does intercooler size matter with e85

so I was looking into going e85 and after reading what e85 cooling effect does for cylinder knock. I was thinking if I switch to e85 I could put a smaller intercooler on the vehicle like a side mount with out worrying about knock. Just looking for input

you could build a side mount that would work ok but not much surface area available

You probably want to run the same size intercooler. Unless you switch to e85 and tune it to run the same or less whp. BUT most people switch to run more psi/power on e85 which probably brings the egt close to what one was running on pump gas.

The type of fuel has no effect on charge temperatures, only combustion temp and EGT. By increasing the charge temps in the cylinder you will have to tune accordingly to that and in turn you would not net as much power as you would with colder charge temps.

Intercooler size is related to your turbo size.

Actually E85 does lower charge temperatures due to its evaporation qualities. You can generally get away with a smaller intercooler on E85, but I prefer to run the same size intercooler I would run on gasoline in an attempt to pack more air into the cylinder. On my supercharged SHO, I ran water/meth as my only charge cooling and ran a tune that wouldn't destroy itself if I ran out of water or had another issue with the water/meth. When I switched to E85, I could run without the water/meth entirely (street), but would still use the water/meth for additional charge cooling.

Intercoolers are sized for the heat it has to remove, in addition to being able to handle flow.
