Default Draining returnless (06+) fuel tank

I have an 06+ returnless setup. The car is tuned on a Flashpro. I needed to switch between e85 and 91.

The method I used was as follows:

1. Remove the fuel line feed hose and stuff some of this 5/32" hose into it (not sure of the OD -- 5/16"?).

2. Wrap some electrical tape around the hose and feed hose. I found the hose did not leak just stuffed in there... BUT due to the pressure, it would actually blow the hose out and spray fuel everywhere! So the tape was to care of any slight leaks, but primarily just to hold the hose in there.

3. I then draped the hose into my fuel container and proceeded to turn the ignition on/off, priming the fuel pump.

Biggest issue is this takes awhile to do (luckily I only had about 3-4 gallons left) as the pump only primes for ~3 seconds. AFAIK, there is no way to change the priming time (unlike AEM, etc.).

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the fuel pump to run/prime for a longer period of time?

Thanks

Is your fuel pump rewired directly to the battery via a relay? If so, you can replace the stock power wire from the relay and replace it with one that is connected directly to 12v or ignition power. This will turn on the pump for as long as you supply the relay with power.

If it's not rewired, you can do the same thing on the ecu side but you'll have to depin the fuel pump wire from the ECU harness which is considerably more of a PITA.

pull the spark plugs out and crank it over.. w/the plugs out there wont be any load on the starter and the fuel pump will run as long as the engine is turning

Unfortunately not. Aeromotive 340 on stock wiring. I was hoping there would be something similar to your relay suggestion for the stock wiring, but sounds like a pain.

Hmm, so I can just sit there and crank and no worries re overheating the starter? I can just hold it down?

An extra step of removing the coils and plugs, but might be easier for draining lots of gas. Appreciate the input.
