Default Dyno was a FAIL!.......

just like the title said, the whole night was a FAIL!! so heres the whole thing.....

-07:20p.m.---i showed up at the shop 40 minutes before my scheduled time. i brought all of my tools just in case. i really thought i was ready to go for the dyno. the car drove down there perfectly fine but once we got on the dyno, everything went wrong. first i pulled out my 440cc injectors and put in my 780. while doing so, one of the 440cc injector seals fell down under the engine (never to be seen again). then when i put the 780cc injectors, l realized that PTE sent me the wrong injector seals (but i wasnt sure at the time).

-08:00p.m.---so then the car wouldnt crank on the big injectors so we go to sync up to the aem...the tuner doesnt have a serial port that would attach to it, but luckily i had my laptop and my cable so we used my laptop. we got it running and pulled it up on the dyno.

-08:45p.m.---when we got on there and started to put his wideband in, we realized that the stock cat was causing way too much restriction with the turbo kit, so he advised that i put a test pipe on there... so we waited for another guy from mainstream to show up and make me a 3 inch test pipe which looks great now. this fixed the exhaust flow and we got it ready for the dyno

-10:55p.m.--- next we get ready to start up and begin tuning. we sync up to the AEM unit and first we notice that my battery is almost dead.... and i forgot my charger. but we are gonna see what we can do before the battery dies. we get ready to crank it and notice that the voltage on the AEM map sensor wasnt reading anything but WOT. so we start checking wiring... we re-soldered the wires and checked everything and he made a new map to go with the sensor. but the car just wouldnt crank. so we went back to the stock map sensor which worked great on the way down.

-12:00--- the laptop dies. we start to give up but then we decide to try the tuners charger and it works. so we move on. but during the whole time, my computer starts having serious issues connecting to the AEM and staying connected. every time he tries to send his new calibrations, it disconnects.. but we finally get it to work. so onward. we hooked up the stock map sensor and BOOM! the stock map sensor is now doing the same thing as the AEM map sensor. sticking at WOT. so we check the wires again... cant find ANY problems. its crazy so we begin to assume both shot out by some miraculous feat.... but we try the 3.5 map sensor one last time and it starts working so we try tuning...

01:00a.m.--- now the car wont idle correctly. it idles at 3k rpms. after searching around, we assume that its because of the injector seals. but when we spray starter fluid around the injector seals, it occasionally brings the idle down a small bit for a second so it might be the issue. and when we hook up the stock map sensor, it idles at 1k rpm but still isnt reading right.

01:45a.m.--- we give up and start cleaning up because its obviously not happening. but the car is deffinitely not going to make it home so we leave it on the dyno for the weekend and i start calling for rides home. sadly the only person that could come get me is an hour away and has a broken LCA on his jeep so he cant do over 40mph before the wheel starts wobbling and swaying. so it takes him AWHILE to get there.

02:15a.m.--- the tuner needs to go home and he lives 1.5 hrs away so he is ready to go. so he gave us a ride to the QuikTrip down the road where we sit on the curb until my friend can get there.

03:00a.m.--- my friend shows up and picks us up.

04:00a.m.--- we finally get home and i pass out. i quickly decide that there is no way in hell im waking up to go to nopi. so i slept till 11 today... kinda nice.

now i gotta figure out how to fix all these issues. first i gotta figure out what the injector seals are supposed to look like that go to the PTE 780cc injectors. next i gotta decide if its my wiring or my map sensor thats crapping out. im assuming its probably wiring since its going in and out. someone help.....

I thought the map sensor read pressure in the manifold? Do you meant the TPS?

I would be scared of any tuner that doesn't have a serial port on his laptop, its just part of the profession.

what part of the injector needs the seal the top or bottom? O rings can usually suffice.

Damn that sucks dude, I was paranoid of dropping a O-ring when I swapped mine at the dyno on thurs, so I brought spares from my project motor

it does read manifold pressure, but its reading pressure like it would as if i had the throttle mashed to the floor, instead of fluctuating, it just sits at one steady pressure. and we checked the voltages of the wires to make sure we didnt have them backwards.

he said he had the stuff for it but he forgot his cable. he had just finished tuning a guy using CHROME and some other stuff and he had a cancellation so he didnt bring his AEM cord. i was originally scheduled for monday and he bumped me up.

well i replaced the seals on the top of the injector and im pretty sure that its the correct one. im pretty sure i have the wrong seals on the bottom of the injector.

yea the map sensor just reads boost pressure. Thats only say 90% of the tune. You can't tune at 10pounds when the map is reading 20 or 5 or anything but 10. What kind of map sensor is it?

i have an AEM 3.5bar map sensor. its mounted away from the manifold and then i still have my stock map sensor still on the manifold.
