E10 should raise the octane level and hence be ideal for FI use. But the concerns are with ethanol's compatibility with the car in general. Things such as the types of rubber and plastic used in the fuel lines and injectors. Also concerns about valves.

That said, I've used E5 a few times and not noticed a difference nor suffered any catastropic failures. Keep in mind that whereas E10 would allow you to tune slightly more aggressively you will actually lose power if you don't take advantage of the tuning. Ethanol has a lower calorific value than petrol. Not that you'd notice with E10. E85 perhaps, but not these small percentages.

Ethanol has more Oxygen content and higher knock resistant than standard fuel. I used E10 on both of my cars. You need to dial in more timing to get more power, just like any higher knock rating fuel ie less tendency to ignite=less power for the same timing. Just make sure your AF ratio is safe with E10 and you will love it.

I don't know a lot about E10; but if you want to up the octane fairly cheaply. Add toluene to your gas at about a 10:1 mixture. 1 part toluene added to 10 parts gas will raise your octane level 2 to 3 points.

That will do it too but make sure you wear industrial PVC glove + a mask. It can be absorbed through dermal and inhalation. Toulene is classified as carcinogenic and has been linked to leukaemia and other cancer.

By E5 and E10 do you mean 5% Ethanol and 10% Ethanol respectively? Just trying to make sure because the gas station I normally fill up at now says 10% Ethanol on the pumps...does this mean that the 93 Octane gas I use is E10 93 Octane??

Or am I COMPLETELY off?

Correct. Here we refer to 10% ethanol fuel blend as E10.

Over here, 10% ethanol can be used with standard fuel, 95 and 98octane fuel to give 95, 98 and 100octane rating respectively. Keep mind that the Aus octane rating is different to your (US) rating.
