Default ebay turbo kit a copy of Rev Hard kit?

I've noticed this turbo kit for the s2000 that has surfaced on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-S2000...sQ5fAccessories

There isn't too much to go on from the picture, but a quick comparison to a picture of the Rev Hard kit (http://www.turbo-kits.com/images/rev_hard_s2000.jpg) and it sure looks pretty similiar. The intercooler piping appears to have the same bends and the downpipe and wastegate dump look similiar as well.

Of course the eBay kit doesn't have anything for fuel control, not even an FMU like the earliest kits, but for under $800 what do you expect?

I wonder if they are actually using the Rev Hard manifold since those are pretty cheap and readily available as it is.....

the intercooler and manifold are probably the only two components halfway decent. i wouldnt waste my money on this though, the turbo wouldnt last long and the wastegate and bov are knock-offs. it seems like no ones tried it though and they offer a warranty so it couldnt hurt to try. the fuel system and management will cost more than the kit, and youll eventually get into the price of a used greddy which is probably a better route.

you would be better off picking up a used greddy kit. Or a new gredy kit.

The turbocharger alone should run you around 1k. They are not built correctly and will grenade rather early. The manifold is guaranteed to crack. The blow off will seize. The waste-gate will stick. You may get lucky, but they have a record for this.

I might check it out for fun. I get bored easily. I have an f20c powered project car that I could slap it on for kicks. Probably wouldn't even do any sort of engine management, just a rising rate FPR or a Vortech/Comptech FMU.

Even running the 6psi wastegate pressure with a rich tune it would still blow away any header when it comes to bang for the buck.

Might not even use the FMIC, just plumb from the turbo directly to the intake manifold. Then again, if I'm going to do that I could just pick up a proven revhard or inlinepro manifold, a legit turbo, and have a downpipe either made (or buy a revhard one) and whip up a pipe from the turbo to the IM. But at that point I'd have at least as much money in it as this ebay kit, and I wouldn't have an IC or any of the oil lines, but that stuff is easy.

I've got lots of stuff laying around that I could utilize in a budget build. I've got an HKS SSQV bov right here that I took off my VR4, lol. Plenty of boost controllers laying around.

I do know that I'd probably prefer a turbo/dowpipe setup with a Vband clamp, so that might be a reason for me to piece my own "kit" together instead.

When that turbo grenades it's going to destroy your motor with it. Those kits have been around for years and they are complete junk. If you just want a couple of cdm parts to play with, buy them individually. You can get piping kits and CDM intercoolers for less than $100. Don't buy the manifolds. They are thin poorly welded, and a %100 going to crack at the welds. It's also not uncommon for them to have chunks of slag inside the runners waiting to break off and run through your system. I'm all about DIY, but please just run away from that.
