what sensor did you have?

Also, egt sensors dont last forever and do need to be changed periodically.

Its was a greddy egt k type thermo and it was about 7k miles old at around 600hp for the last 2k miles. My past experiences with these probes has been after around 10k miles start checking for cracks and weak spots but it also depends on what fuel your running and how much heat and abuse its going through. Funny part is that i put this turbo on a Suzuki Swift I'm working on and it still rungs great. Only at 10psi now instead of 22 but still it lives on.

Even though its 200ish degrees difference before and after the turbo, but that could be enough to exceed the egt probe maximum range.
Also, most of the tuning data is based off off after turbo readings. 3-4 in is pretty standard.
EGT "characteristics" are used more as tuning tool. Max temp is only one of the many things pro tuner sees..

It helps when switching fuels around on the dyno between pulls to get those timing maps close but i would not run one like this long term anymore. Maybe just for a short while but then once tunning is done i would just cap it. I already got a new one in my downpipe.
