EGT/Pyrometer Selection and Install
So I just got my AEM EGT Sensor and I am disappointed. Their description online is the following.
The 30-2050 kits contains:
One RTD temperature sensor with male connector and male thread.
One mating connector assembly.
One weld-on bung w/female thread.
The real sensor is below, notice that the sensor has no male thread just a female coupling. I was planning on drilling and taping the manifold and screwing this thing in. Now that I have to weld, I have a mig welder but I am unsure of I should or if this if it can be welded and hold

Most EGT sensors are like this. Not all manifolds will have meat in them to drill and tap the manifold.
This way is more universal where you'd weld the bung to the position and fit the EGT sensor it.

Where do you recomend installing it, and what is your welding procedure?
Downpipe will work fine
The aem egt works great, we have them for our race cars as well.
Welding procedures, if done properly, will also prevent leaks through a faulty tap.
But yea, on the downpipe will work

You want the EGT upstream form the turbo that is where the temperature reading is the most critical. Maybe if I was NA I could put it in the collector but the only thing I should be doing post turbo is the wideband.
Anyone have any sugestions on how to attach the bung?

Return it?
I just dont know if it would be a good idea in the cast mani...
Maybe a full race mani but not the ILP log mani.

Unless you mount a pyro in each runner to monitor each cylinder individually...I don't see the point.
Wideband > single pyro.
