It doesn't. It's not possible to have oil come out of an atmospheric BOV unless you've got an oil leak in your turbo or something and oil is shooting into your hotpipe and eventually some of it comes out of the BOV when it vents.

I and many others ran and still run atmospheric BOV's on our turbo Nissans with no issues with this "oily mess" that you are referring to.... atmospheric vs recirculated BOV's mainly deal with air itself. For example, in some applications, you will need to recirculate because the MAS/MAF will measure an amount of air and expects that amount of air to go into the system. Therefore if in this situation, the BOV were to vent to the atmosphere, you would be missing a chunk of air since less air is going into the system than was calculated.... I'm sure someone can provide a better explanation than this though, but that is the jist of it.
From my experiences with turbo'ed Honda Civics/Preludes (and Acura Integras),
atmospheric BOV does not create oil messs under the hodd. but atmospheric wastegate does. i still remember my friend's acura integra's under hood is like black (his car is white) because his wastegate is atmospheric...

correct me if i'm wrong, though.

Heck yeah, I love that sound! I hesitate to say it, but it's part of the reason I want a turbo over a s/c. Now I just have to pray that Elda gets CARB approval or a waiver so I don't have trouble with the car in Cali.

Unfortunately, I don't think this one will sound quite like that. If I'm not mistaken this configuration reroutes the bov back into the intake to meet CARB certification. That probably means that there won't be that "rocket blast" sound anymore. Small price to pay...

Too bad though. I was up at Laguna Seca, Friday, and there was an Evo there with a huge a$$ turbo/bov setup. Everytime he went blasting down the straight, it sounded like an F-15 was passing.

I heard from Wael last week that April was looking like a safe bet for availability. (Maybe sooner) Apparently, there have been further improvements too! It just gets better and better!!!

Wonder how difficult it would be to reroute the BOV to atmosphere for those of us who could care less about CARB cert?

How long this system (air/water IC) can produce rated power in 90F summer day? 12 sec? 5 min? 30 min? How much performance reduction we shoud expect with Air/Air IC (with $cost$ reduction) in same 90F summer day?
