yeah I had one on my turbo'd RX7 about 16 years ago. Not as good as an air to air though.
Not true, we initially were intent on using an air to air intercooler, they're much much cheaper. However the calculations showed there isn't enough open area in the nose to make them efficient for this application. The extended tubing length also meant more pressure drop. There are more parts to an air/water intercooler, so before committing to the significantly higher cost, we had to prove the air/air was not optimal. There are 5 castings for the air/water intercooler, the core is also more expensive, the water pump, the special water tank, the plumbing, the heat exchanger...etc. The intercooler setup on our system is very expensive to make compared to an air/air and I can assure you it was not selected for any other reason except it was the better setup for our turbo package.

I am not saying that the air/air doesn't work, I am saying they are inefficient in this particular application. We've tested charge temps (we have a tap before and after the intercooler) and confirmed the setup works very well. After 16 hours on continuous running on a chassis dyno, the system was still showing ambient temperature.

cheers

[QUOTE=CrazyPhuD,Jul 9 2004, 09:53 PM] So one question I have is if it will be possible to get the kit without the E-Manange?

Sure, its possible.

What will be available as options still is not finalized, so we're taking suggestions from you folks.

I know the article said more boost is possible with higher octane, but I believe 7psi is possible on 93 octane.

cheers

Congrats Wael,
Glad to see the initial R&D is finally over. Can't wait to see the dyno plot.
Finally a Completely packaged turbo kit that is also street legal for us California.
Absolutely remarkable
Thanks Asura, we're working on it. BTW we just ran a test yesterday, at 6 psi of boost, the back pressure in our 2.5" downpipe with stock cat and Spoon cat-back, was 1 psi!

That's increadibly low. The stock cat in this car is very nicely made and the stainless internals should prove durable. This proved to us there is no need to go bigger than 2.5" tubing on the exhaust and the stock cat has very little back pressure.

cheers

So I had to go buy the mag to check it out and first pass all I have to say is WOW....this looks for real....

They say the kit is designed to OE standards of durability and designed for streetability.

kit is +72hp with 5psi boost....however they say more HP is available if you're running high octane gas.

No specific price for the kit but is designed to be cost competive with $6000 NA packages....could be less or right around $6000.

TC is good for 500+HP

5 Heat shields????

Bypass valve built into the system NOT blow off....appears to be designed to meet CARB requirements.

Hmmmm...turbocharger is fed with both oil AND coolant? I thought most were just oil cooled this one also taps into the engine coolant system. I assume this is designed to increase reliablity.

Simple FMU but no electronic enginemanagement, again maybe to meet CARB reqs...since the effective systems(i.e. E-Manage and AEM) are not CARB legal.

The pics are definately cool if you're interested in the system buy the mag.....if this thing does meet CARB certs....I want one....of course I'll want an AEM too(just a bit anal about that)
Any idea what kind of 0-60 & 1/4 mile stats you can get with this turbo kit

OK I'm impressed and looking forward to the kit...

Hmmmm....so have you done any testing on a MY04? I assume that it would require different tuning for the E-manage for a MY04.

Definately want one....any CMU alum discounts
