EMS Suggestions ( AEM V1 vs V2?)
If you talked to your tuner and he wasn't helpful, then he probably shouldn't be your tuner. If he recommends "the most expensive" one, ask why. If he doesn't tell you, then walk. If he doesn't answer you now, then should you have problems down the road, he definitely won't be answering them then. I know one difference between the two is that with version 1, the stock temp gauge didn't work and modfry make an inexpensive kit to correct this, but the version 2 software didn't need this. As for being user friendly not meaning anything to you, you might be data logging more than you think. Should there be a problem or something you want to change, everyone is going to want to see logs. If you want a cheaper tune and if you aren't worried about absolute max power (since you seem to be okay with installing kit and never messing with it again) do an etune with Evans tuning. Send him logs, he tweaks them, repeat until done. That's my $.02
I am running a Full Race with a GT3076R so I was just wanting to get to maybe 430-450 whp and most important which is to be at 300 tq, as of whp those are what I prefer but don't really care.
I should be able to datalog with my AEM Failsafe Gauge. Am I not able to datalog with a V1? I would like to be able learn how to tune. I can get a Haltech for $850 or pay $200 less for a V1. Cheapest V2s I can get are $1100. Not worth it when I can get a Haltech for so much less. I looked into the evans etuning seems pretty cool but I don't plan on doing flash pro...
Both tuners I called preferred V2 but one guy said he likes Haltech also after I mentioned it to him.
the v2 works a little better simply due to the fact that the hardware is built to a little tighter tolerances, but overall the only thing you really gain with a v2 is flex fuel control, the coolant temp gauge works right and the car will start a touch faster.
If your tuner has experience with aem i would go that route. It is way easier to find someone else to tune aem than haltech in the event you move or just need to find a different tuner.
