Default Engine Rebuild

Hi Guys,

I have a spare short block assembly with a damaged cylinder 4. The block consists of the crank, rods, pistons, oil pan and pump etc.

I'm thinking of re-building this block for use with a Vortech SC running at higher than stock boost. I'm currently running the Vortech at stock boost on a new short block.

Any suggestions on what the best way of doing this would be gratefully appreciated?

Please remember that I live in The Netherlands (Europe) so shipping big lumps of metal backwards and forwards to the USA would be expensive!!

Thanks
Kevin

Well, for sure you need to get it sleeved. Is there anywhere on your side of the pond that does that? You can use the stock rods, but I would get them cryo treated. You should also add some forged pistons - with a SC, 9.5:1 or even 10:1 should work fine. My 2 cents.

I'd sleeve the block, it will be the only way to save the block. It will be expensive unless you can find someone in Europe to do the job. 9 or 10:1 would be fine, with a 12 psi pulley. At 12 psi you won't have to worry about belt slippage.

What are you running for engine management now?

Currently I'm running the standard engine managment with the Vortech supplied piggy back system. I'm assuming on the new block that I will have to go with a new system including larger injectors.

How much does sleeving cost in the USA, including a set of new low compression forged pistons?

Do I require and cylinder head work, or can I take it of the standard block and bolt it directly on the sleeved one?

Kevin you have two ways:

I bought a Short block in US to build it, since the euro rate is favorable to us shipping cost are not very high.

I know some one in UK who maybe can build you the block.

Who is your contact in the UK?

Are you still selling that WB O2 sensor you had?
