laskey bottom end stock bore, 10:1CR or less.,F22crank. i personally would go 9ish:1. your boosted and bear that in mind. boost is drug.......you give up approx 10whp per full compression point drop, but can crank boost up to more then compensate

/thread
I would never lower compression on a supercharger set up IMO.. unless you can really crank the boost any idea of lowering compression makes me lose sleep at night. superchargers like higher compression set ups..

If I do it over I will go 12:1 at 14psi all day..... with built bottom... (thats the supercharger set up)

Turbo I am going 10:1...... too chicken too go lower... my NA days are embedded in my brain still

Interestingly, even though my current pulley was sized to give around 11psi (3.4") I was hitting 13 psi with some belt slip at the top.
hhmm... do you still have belt slip... maybe try cleaning all the pulleys and using a slightly tighter belt size...... FYI... not tooo tight or the water pump pulley might break. (better chance of getting struck by lightning.... but hey... happened to me.)

If your absolutely positive your not gonna go over 15psi (dude no one stays at a certain psi your gonna want more) then just throw in 10:1 or 10.5:1.
But like everyone else is telling you its really not noticeable at 9 or even 8 when you got the boost and its leaves SOO much room for power... So even if its really the last build you do you can always turn up the boost!!!

Hmm, now we're talkin. 12:1 at 14psi sounds very appealing to me. Have you seen this build done before?

At the time of the belt slipping we were placing the blame on the belt not being the best kind. The tuner gave me some other belt recommendations so I'll see how those do. I also haven't tried the spray on sticky method either.

Also, I'm very sure I won't be going further than this blower. I think it peaks at 15psi or so and even that is probably more than I want to see in this car. I have been turbo'd before and know all about the addiction. But I've spent stupid money on this car and its only getting worse, so a line has to be drawn somewhere. Really, if it's not enough, I'll by a vette.

I was actually hoping to be done with the car after the tuning session, had no plans on a motor rebuild at all. But since it's here and I have to deal with it, might as well build it better than stock.

Thanks,
J

I don't fully understand teh purpose for raising the compression for FI, possibly it

[QUOTE=OKSTWOK,Sep 4 2009, 09:08 AM] all factory FI cars that had incredible reliability and crazy power potential had CR in the 7.8-9.0:1 range. there

well yeah lower the compression for crazy psi... 15+ which is why everyone with crazy power does lower compression. (15psi+ = crazy power).

If you take a 14 psi set up and lower the compression you will obviously make less power. power and reliability are never really paralleled unfortunately.
that actually was me that posted that. stock cobra 03-04 is like 10psi and they run 8.x:1. neon srt4 runs what 11psi stock and thats 8.x:1. chevy cobalt is 9.2:1.

its just what you do when you build a FI car for reliability. now, race cars, yeah, they run higher CR, but they also rebuild there motors way more often

Oh, no worries on my end. I feel you on the work thing, TGIFF. Can't wait for the 3 day weekend to begin, got our local S2K Texas Hold'em tourny tonight to blow off some steam from the hectic work week to look forward to.
