Default Engine went kaboom while tuning

Soo took my car to the very reputable shop
And my motor when kaboom while its tuning
And the person who was in charge says
It's either because of the fuel or ems
The person was asking if it was 93 octane fueled in the tank
And I said yes and he told me it was because of the ems
Which was v1 AEM ems 1052 I believe
Could this happen ?? And now I have to get new motor outta no where
Didn't expect this at all i don't know what to do

They're insured, right?

Who's foot was on the gas pedal? Who was watching the A/F numbers and all the other numbers on the monitor?

I will call again and ask if they have insurance to the shop but
He made it sound like they don't have one saying that I have to pay for t
So I am guessing they don't have one

Who was tuning it? What FI setup do you have? What was the target psi? What were your power goals? Did the tuner set up any failsafes? Was the motor stock? How many miles on it? How many runs did it complete on the dyno before it blew up?

I’ve never heard of a shop covering a motor in cases like this, not unless they built the engine and installed it and provided the EMS and tune, only then would you have something to work with if its a reputable shop. I hate situations like yours, its a tough luck kind of deal im afraid.

It was at the inlinepro tuner was Rick I heard
And 120kmiles on the motor stock block
Goal was about 400 and I don't think they went over any close to 10 psi
Set up was precision 5858 with inline pro manifold id 1000

I second this. As if they were not only hand in the cookie jar of the build, it becomes a sticky situation. Was the EMS new? I ask that question because the v1 is pretty old.

They were running few dynos starting from 2 psi and when they raised to 4 the smoke came out and all the spark plugs were melted
Only thing he could guess of cause was ems AEM v1
