Smile Everything in working order....

Okay lets all learn from our mistakes on the forum, used turbos are probally tabu here now. I want to make this as quick as possible, so here i go....

I bought a used turbo kit (inline pro) for my s2k a few months ago, and waited to put it on till now. The installer now tells me and shows me that there is a leak in the acutall turbo itself. It seems that it was taken apart by someone from the get go he told me. I paid 2800 for this kit... Here is my deliema. I have to get a rebuild on this 100% workable turbo i bought off someone on this forum; which i wont say because i am not like that. So now can anyone help me on what to do on this??? Ask for the half the money of the rebuild, all of it? I tried PMing him and he does not answer back, mabey he is out of town; i dont know. The important part here is that the kit instead of saving me a bunch of money now has to get rebuild.

How much is a rebuild for a turbo??

By the way the reason we all came down to why the turbo has this leak, is because there was not turbo timer and or he did not let the car idle when he was running it and would just shut it down, thus the oil would acumilate in the turbo and burn the seals of it everytime. Now all u here is psssssssssssssssssssssss (air sound) coming out of the middle of the actual turbo. Rebuild time of course now for me, my first turbo......my first turbo car....the horror. MORE down time. I am lucky to have another running car or else this would be tragic.

What a coincidence that he won't respond to your PM's

Man, I am SO SORRY to hear about that. I just got my first turbo kit installed into mine and I was scared as well about having things go wrong since I bought a used kit also.

What turbo are you running? I'm guessing it's the sc-61 or the 60-1 or something.

This might be a time to look into going with a different type of turbo. I know you probably don't want to deal with any used units, but a well taken care of GT30 would be a nice upgrade. That's what I'll be picking up if my T04r ever goes...

Best of luck to you, and sorry to hear about your troubles. Before you know it, though, you'll be boosting to your heart's content - and it's very, very fun

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but have you tried contacting InlinePro to get an estimate? They should be able to help you out, especially since it's one of their kits...and regardless if you're the second owner.

After getting the estimate, go back to the guy you bought it from and ask him to at least split the bill with you. It's only fair that he'd split it with you, but in all honesty since it's been some time since you bought it, you may not get anything from the guy.

I hope this works out for you man.

Its hard for a turbo to go bad from "lack" of turbo timer.

I would have to send the turbo into the manufacturer to get it repaired.

shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Got a phone call from my tuner here and told me that it will cost 90 bucks to have it fixed up and ready to reinstall on monday. This would of cost me less hassle if SOMEONE would have told me about the minor problem. Anyhow, good to know it was nothing serious. Thanks for the help guys.
