What the crap is that twin turbo setup with the one turbo's compressor discharge going into the inlet of the the other turbo instead of going into the engine? I wonder what the advantage to that is. I can understand the daisy chaining of the exhaust gases between the two turbo's but not of the compressors.

Maybe they are using the smaller primary turbo to spool a large secondary like in a sequential twin turbo setup?

Actually, looking at the picture again, it looks almost like they are trying to compress the already compressed air. I can't imagine that is very efficient.
