Thumbs up Exhaust Silencer Question

Hey guys, sumb question but lately I have been using my exhaust silencers when driving with my fiance, now I love the quietness of it, and the sound of the Turbo spooling is amazing but I dont go WOT because I know its pointless with the restrictive exhaust, but my question is if I drive with the silencers in will my car try and adjust the Fuel according, becuase its such a restrictive setup..................can I just take off the silencers and drive normal etc.......

I Guess I should just watch my AFRs'xxxxxxx

Not a bad idea since it has been so cold keep the creep down, I finally noticed a bit of creep on mine when boosted at 20 degrees out. My tires spun out in 3rd at like 45 mph. It jumped from 9.5 to 10.4 not much but still it has never done that before.

Did you notice a power difference Joey?

Yeah It feels like it is being held back which is fine, I can easily take em out I just want to know fi the reduced flow will make my ECU do something to lean out the fuel, then when I take out the silencers and go WOT BOOOOOOOOOOOM

Joey-

Silencers just add back pressure. You ECU/Emanage combo will adjust fuel in closed loop operation, but that is independent of back pressure.

The big difference will be the spool characteristics., and will run a tad richer, if anything... When you wastegate opens into the more restricted exhaust, it just builds pressure against the turbine outlet, eliminating any boost creep (but lowering overall power/efficiency because there is less air that can flow from the turbine outlet through the exaust... Less airflow through the turbine + same fuel = richer AFR.

If anything, you will run richer... The silencers should yield a more conservative tune/AFRs than your current setup (given same timing table).

Yup, make sense to me. Like I mentioned, it is pretty cold over on the east coast. Should help with getting boost spikes.

your car will run richer. how much, you won't know until you give it a try and look at your A/F gauge. I would be careful if it runs considerably richer as it could foul out plugs and wash out the cylinder walls. Depending on the type of exhaust it might not be that much more retrictive with the silencers in. With my setup, it runs considerably richer, like under 10 A/F so i don't go WOT when i have them in.

Tell the girl to put ear plugs in.
Or just drive a different car.
