Default FI for a daily driver

I've been thinking about going FI, but I'd like to keep the car as a daily driver so I need something reliable and not too over the top. What is my best option? I've done some research and it seems like a supercharger might be the way to go. Perhaps the kraftwerks one? How about the greddy turbo kit? What are the other daily driveable FI kits out there??

it's in the tune. any kit can be made as a DD.

Vortech, Comptech, and the Greddy kit come from the factory pre tuned for a stock s2k. meaning you can just bolt it on and go...

comptech or vortech, turbo really isn't for something daily, although maybe the greddy kit would do it

having done turbos on several different factory NA applications, i think the biggest problem that you have with FI and daily driving is partial throttle driveability. Many poor tunes will get you an on/off feeling with the throttle.

I have absolutely no experience with fi and s2000's but i'm in the same boat as you and am still doing my research for driveability at partial throttle. Not a lot about this issue is posted (that i've seen), but for me it's imminently important.

Couldn't agree more on the part-throttle aspect. Greddy kit being CARB exempt would make it my first choice, as long as you could replicate a really strong air/fuel and ignition map to handle boost as high as you want to go. Get these maps right, and your car will be no different than stock when below boost and linearly monstrous in boost.

There's a great community of people in the FI forum who are super helpful in sharing their knowledge and giving you good reference point maps from which you can do some spreadsheet magic on and *conservatively* incorporate to your setup before tweaking (using a wideband O2 like Innovate's or the one hooked into an AEM) and a constant-speed (Dyno Dynamics or similar) dyno. Tune every cell (intersection of the RPM vs. Load map) for optimal ignition and air/fuel, and you're rolling...

You'll never regret it once it's set up right. Look for posts by Fperra, TimG, Foxer10, Reborn56, turbolane, and PeanutButter -- all have posted (& shared offline) hugely helpful info with me during my build. Many thanks to them again for their help. This forum and the folks on it are worth the price of membership.

Well your sig says that you are in Santa Monice and I am going to assume that is CA. Which means it needs to be CARB certified or whatever bs it is you guys need out there. I have been reading that the Greddy kit was just approved so if turbo is your thing then that is the only kit for you. As far as superchargers go there are a few choices. Just remember that the more ponies you want the more involved it is going to get....
fast and reliable is not cheap.

My car was tuned for both WOT and partial throttle driveability. That's one of the advantages of using a load bearing dyno like the dyno dynamics.

My car runs just like stock when I'm not under boost. It just feels like normal around town, just with way more power off the line. I have the Greddy kit. It is my daily driver and I'm quite happy with it now.

Awesome to hear.

How's your part throttle while boosting? That's really the hardest to get right. i.e. 60 percent throttle in the mid-revs

I've got the Greddy kit also. Driveability in all cases is clean, can't imagine any improvements. I've tried everything - part throttle etc.

Its perfect when at partial throttle while boosting. That's actually the way I normally drive when I'm pushing it. I roll into the throttle and "ease" my way into WOT. I do this because I still have a few issues when suddenly stomping on the throttle when reading vaccuum. In first and second gear suddenly flooring it from a vaccum will sometimes cause sputtering and jerky acceleration. A smooth application of throttle over a relatively short period of time yields smoother acceleration for me. A little more tuning should alleviate this, but the Ultimate still has all the normal limitations of a piggy back system.
