Reliability is one of my concerns as well, this car is my daily driver and I've got nearly 100,000 miles on it! Is it safe for me to use a system like the Lovefab or the Inline Pro and run 15-18 lbs without replacing internals? Or even the Superchargers?
you can't run 15-18lbs on either SC or TC. With 100k miles I wouldn't put anything on it at all honestly.

When I talked to the rep.s at inline pro they told me the new kit includes the 3mm head gasket which would lower the compression ratio to 9:1, allowing me to run increase the boost if I was so inclined to 15 - 18 lbs of boost, is this incorrect?

Also would you recommend a new engine then? Anyone know a spot with good prices on them?

New engine? No. Rebuild? Yes.

When adding my CTSC in '04, turbos still weren't considered "reliable" on the S. You can slap on a stock sc kit and away you go. You'll get extra power after VTEC. This is great for maintaining excellent driveability with some freeway kick. You will not, however, see more than 300hp in such trim.

Turbos can easily go above that number and reach max boost waaaay earlier than the sc., but are not bolt-on. Location will determine the necessity of finding a shop to pass you on emissions.

We got 370 out of my sc and it wasn't running right. Stock internals. If I was starting fresh today, I'd be hard pressed not to go turbo for a couple of reasons. One, power is addicting and you can get mo' from the turbo and earlier. Two, I live in a county that does not have emissions testing yet. I'm sticking with my sc, lowering compression, and will settle on 350hp. A shot of gas might be added for the one or two times I might actually 1/4-mile track 'er and for the punks that roll up on me on the freeway should space be available. Other than that, it'll be for show- the wife digs nitrous and loud exhausts!

You live in NoVa like myself. I have a turbo S2000. Keep in mind, a turbo S will not pass emissions. I believe the comptech will pass emissions, but I could be wrong. Someone with a supercharger can field that one.
Yours passed.

Unfortunately I am up for a test and don't have a clue how it is going to get passed this time. It is one of the most frustrating things about having a turbo and living where they test.

Hey guys Im kinda new to this so if I do something wrong I apologize, but Im trying to make the same decision right now between lovefab or a supercharger, and I'm a little unclear on which one we ultimately decided was more benificial in the power department. Can anyone give me some idea of the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times for the LoveFab vs. the Comptech and Vortech? Thanks Alot.
When the Coptech came out and was tested in some magazine (over 2 years back) they managed to cut 0.1sec from the 0-60 time...

We ran my LoveFab with 4.57 gears with G-tech and managed 4.6-4.8 0-60 times.

If you want your car to be fast with a bolt on, go for the SC. If you want your car to also FEEL fast, there is no other option than LoveFab.

Guys I would like to underline the fact again, that it's not a race from a higher speed roll that makes the turbo shine. Both are nearly the same in this cathegory.
It's the off the line and out of the corner acceleration that makse the SC look funny compared to turbo. Peak numbers speak for Vortech, real life speaks for LoveFab.

BTW. I have the first version, the new one (GT1) is 25-30whp more, go imagine!

I'm curious what upgrades outside of the packaged kits you buy (vortech, comptech, lovefab, etc...) are worth buying or even must buys. It sounds like clutch upgrades are needed. Anything else? Diff? Radiator?

I love the appeal of a bolt-on SC since I drive my s about 50 miles a day on the highway. But once I retire this car to weekend duty, I'm sure I'm going to want to slap a nice turbo kit on there.
