Default Finally building the engine...

Guys,

I'm finally going to build my original 16k mile F20c and have IP set it up to be able to handle 1000 whp with ease. I am also looking at going ahead and doing the Getrag V160 trans swap if anyone knows where to find a good used low mileage unit that won't break the bank. Hell, if I could even get a new one for around $4k or so, I'll jump on that. If anyone knows where to look for a good trans or knows of someone that has one, please help a s2k brother out.

Someone please tell me this could be a real V160 for $1500 with only 35k miles.

This was listed on a salvage parts locator.

In the end your best bet is the gsr4 speed gforce trans to hold that power

They also make a GFSf2000 I think is what its called it is a four speed also and they have a couple gear ratio options it's good to a little over a thousand if I'm not mistaken

Yeah, I think that ad was for a auto trans.

I'd really like to stick to a 6 spd trans and one that has a kit to adapt it to the F20c like FB has. I found a new one for $6850 but that's just insane. I hate to spend that much but it would make me feel better that it's brand new. I'll also be running the S around 850-900 or so whp being that my 6466 will probably be limited to around that. I'm not going for 1000 whp, just want the engine to be able to withstand it with ease when built.

Yeah, Allenbuilt. The head is already built with Supertech but I'm waiting to hear back from Jon at IP on if they can throw in a package to also build the head with Ferrea or their parts at the same time and have the whole engine assembled so all I need to do is drop it in. If the price is too high for the head build with engine, I'll just stick to the Supertech I already have since it only has about 2000 miles on it.

I'm running a 69g series Quaife sequential gearbox, rough figures quote 800 ft il tq.I was originally going to be running 1000 hp using Fernando's old race engine but it went sick.Fernando(Kings Performance is rebuilding the engine at the moment)so I've got a stock 2.0 in there running 508 bhp.

I've gone for straight cut.gears so I could chose the ratio's,I'm also running a 8.8 conversion on the rear with a 3.9 final, with my chosen Quaife gearing it will pull 200 mph at 9000 rpm.

When I get my engine back off Fernando I will be winding the boost up,at the moment with the stock motor 12 psi boost is giving me 508, but I digress.

The Quaife is an alternative to the 2jz and an advantage to me is that its a uk company and any clutch that will fit a stock motor/tranny can still be used with the Quaife. The other advantage I've got is because I'm running a Motec ecu I have flat shift on the gearbox which cuts the fuel/spark on the up shifts and blips the throttle on the downshifts all without using the clutch so very quick gearchanges.

The down side to this gearbox is its very noisy and also very raw so earplugs are needed for any distance and driving in traffic is a nightmare, but once up and running and going for it the gearbox is awesome.

I don't know what the availability and price of a 69g series is like in the States but its an alternative to the 2jz.

My car is purely a road car so not a drag racer or circuit car just a fun weekend toy.One of the recent posts on here was asking about costs of builds...... Well mine is well north of $100.000 but the wife doesn't know that
